Barrow no matter how west it is isn't part of it: Although I think St Bee's head is further West.

Barrow is in Cumbria administratively, but in a sports sense it isn't. 'West Cumbria' is for the purposes of this discussion 'west cumberland'

As a Barrovian I consider myself LANCASTRIAN not cumbrian, we never asked to be lumped in with cumberland and  westmorland and dont like the fact it happened :(

base the Cumbria team in Carlisle, link up with the uni....
Link up with the bbc who are based there...
sign top youngsters and pay for their uni fees....

Approach heinz, whoever owns sellafield...whoever builds boats in barrow...the dairy in aspatria...etc for sponsorship!
play a couple of games in carlisle and the rest on the road around the south/west on a bid basis....make it pay for the hosts by offering them a percentage of gate receipts..... if I were one of barrow, Whitehaven etc... I would play double headers and look to sell tickets for other games to the extra fans that turn up....

a fully pro set up could then target the union areas for player development....they could have a academy in the north and have a play off series with the south academy!

Lots of potential but as it would require additional set up to whats already there and it would have to be based out of its heartland....

You have obviously never travelled around Cumbria our transport infrastructure is awful i.e the main road between Barrow and Workington/Whitehaven is known locally as the road to hell with good reason
