Barty
Can anyone confirm that the game on April 2nd vs Swinton will definitely be at 3pm at the same time as the Barrow AFC game at Holker Street?
Barty
Plenty of people have read this and still no replies. Strange state of affairs when both managers/coaches have declared they're in a relegation dogfight and put great store in making home a fortress and the importance of fans and yet the clubs want to compete for speccies. Why not get together and do a Dual Deal ticket with one of the games later in the day. Possibly draw in some extra fans on a bank holiday and make the respective stadia more intimidating. I don't want to have to choose which game I go to - I'd like to go to both.
TMF
Barty, you may have just put forward the best idea of the season so far. Maybe time the clubs starting talking to each other. As a duel supporter, it would make a great day out for the fans. We do love Barrow, right?
morty
AFC will be relegated by then so everyone will come down to Craven Park anyway :-) Lee Morton Raiders have risen from the ashes
Barty
Karen in the office has confirmed that the football aren't changing their fixture time and she hasn't had a response from Swinton yet, so I guess this means efforts are being made to avoid a clash. Not sure why this couldn't have been settled months ago.
TMF
Morty, the town gets enough kickings from the media, press, TV, etc. Can't wait to see the latest slanging from the TV Sunday night. Say it ain't so mate. I love this place. :).
Barty
Latest from Karen in the shop, regardless of any communication from Swinton, is that we've lost the use of the floodlights! Strange one that. I hope they have enough stewards to go around. As it stands sadly I'm choosing the football to go to because at this stage in their season they are in greater need of the support and that's what counts. TMF
Lost use of the floodlights. Without knowing the problem it's difficult to comment. I guess that's part of the problems we had with the electrics during the friendlies. Ok, It will be sorted in time and yes Barty the steward thing is a problem. I don't blame Swinton if they insist on a 3.00pm kick off. it's not their fault. These fixtures have been known for some time so why didn't the clubs talk? As a DS i'll choose CP because before the season even started we are in a relegation fight, but good luck to both teams on the day.
Paul Ballantyne
I think it was last Tuesday in the evening, there was a power surge come from Kimberly Clarks after some sort of electrical fault which knocked out the lights at CP while the lads were training.. When the power came back on there is about 19 bulbs blown in the flood lights. So the club have to find the money for the bulbs, book in a contractor to come lower the lights to do the work but also hire a cherry picker for the lights in the stand. Saying all this, the bulbs might be alright and it could be a problem with the main control panel.
Bearman
Will Kimberley Clarke reimburse if it was their fault? They should do. Ron Banks Midlands Hurricanes and Barrow
RAIDERSRUS
Don't think it was Kimberly Clark's fault.
The Vet
If there was a power surge how come only Craven Park was affected over a mile away?
Paul Ballantyne
I'm only going off what the coaching staff were telling me on the Thursday after. There was power cuts to parts of Ormsgill and other places. I don't know if it came from within Kimberlys or just outside.
RAIDERSRUS
Wiped the whole factory out that night too, also had some power dips the following day.

Barty
As it turned out the clash was avoided by a bit of H2O. Happy days.
renfrew refugee
Poor game spoiled by the conditions. although Swinton seemed to play the conditions better, long kicks into corners when playing with the wind, too many individual errors and lucky to come away with a point. TMF
Today, a point was a point and I agree, Swinton played the conditions better, pinning us back in our own half on every 6th and controlling the ball and not making as many mistakes as us. Again, it's a learning curve. Thawing out now. Don't you just love summer rugby?
