OzStorm
I have not been on this forum for some time and with a quick read its easy to see why. Having competed in NCL South for the last 3 years it was decided with a heavy heart to drop down a league due to the costs of running a team at this level. As a club we spent on average 3k per season just on the first team on coach costs and our income level could not justify that. Like many clubs we struggle for an income outside sponsorship and membership and until we can get that sorted it is unrealistic to play at a National Level. The playing standard whilst being a lot higher than Midlands Premier was not an issue. We are still having ongoing talks with the city council who have shown some interest in helping us secure a long term home ground. We as a club will continue to be ambitious and push ourselves - the talent and appetite for RL in this city is huge and with a bit of luck and some more hard work we will back at that level and looking beyond in the not too distant future. Bearman
Strange as their Twitter page suggests they should be turning professional this year ......There are some great people working hard to grow the game in the Midlands.I wish them and of the other clubs well. Wouldn't it be fantastic if we could get those Coventry, Leicester, Birmingham and Nottingham derbies being played at professional level? If we could get the Derby derby again it would be even better Ron Banks Midlands Hurricanes and Barrow
