Probably one of my favourite little gems close to where I live, Crawford Lake just outside of Milton, Ontario on the Niagara Escarpment.
Crawford Lake is a meromictic lake, and they deduced the presence of a pre-contact village there from analysis of the sediments, ultimately finding the post holes of 11 longhouses, they’ve reconstructed three of them on their original footprints.
Excellent spot to wander about, it’s also on the 900km Bruce Trail from Niagara Falls to Tobermory on the tip of the Bruce Peninsula if you really like wandering
