Bentham to referee Challenge Cup final

Phil Bentham will referee the 2013 Tetley’s Challenge Cup final between Hull FC and Wigan Warriors at Wembley Stadium on Saturday August 24 (3.00pm).

It will be Bentham’s second appearance in the Challenge Cup final following his Wembley debut in the 2011 final between Wigan Warriors and Leeds Rhinos and the Bolton-based official, who suffered a potentially career-ending leg break in May 2012, is looking forward to returning to Wembley.

“I’m delighted, it’s a great honour to be appointed as the referee for the Tetley’s Challenge Cup final,” said Bentham.

Phil Bentham is a Leyther, hardly a 'home ref' for Wigan. We actually had a spell a few years back where Wigan had an anomalous losing run with him in the middle compared to other refs.
