  1. After many years of loving their music I finally got to see Groundation live in London last night. I've been to hundreds of gigs over 40 years or so, but that was the very best. I've never seen a room so full of hundreds of people from all backgrounds dancing and smiling and singing. The 9-piece band were utterly magnificent. The vibe in the venue was beautifully chilled and the whole event was joyful. 4 hours of live reggae, funk and jazz music for just £35, including Hollie Cook the support artist who also had everyone up dancing and waving their arms. Unforgettable night. I can't replicate it but this comes kind of close:
  2. Wire were great tonight. Massive teamwork and tenacity in defence. Lots of great local players coming through. Josh Smith is an absolute revelation, he's player of the season so far alongside Josh Thewlis and Ben Currie. Big Sam and his team are clearly doing something wonderful. We are heading in the right direction.
  3. I know it's not for everyone - and this one of their slowest, most atmospheric tunes - but I'm beside myself with excitement about next Saturday. This was recorded on their current tour. Wish me luck - last time I had tickets for a gig in London it was the Waterboys and the train never left Leeds station after 3 hours.....
  4. There's a massive difference Click. You support your team and over the course of a season it doesn't matter who refereed your games. The best players will have the best stats and the best teams will win the trophies. It's really weird to think that a ref might have that same influence over the course of a season.
  5. I agree with this. It's futile to focus on refs. They'll make mistakes but nowhere near as many as the players. The human errors they sometimes make do not usually influence the outcome. At the grass roots level they have no hindsight and at the top level they have video reviews. No refs = no RL. Concentrate on the players.
  6. Looking forward to supporting Paquador in the World Cup
  7. One band I introduced to them was Groundation. I finally get to see them in London next week!
  8. As my sons get older they are introducing me to some great new music. This tune by Royston Club is called Cariad, which is a Welsh word that means a bit more than calling each other "love" in the north of England if that makes sense. You'd only say it to someone you love. Great song anyway!
  9. Wow, that was quite a contrived finish to the game.
