Cameron Smith’s to join Wakefield Trinity from Leeds Rhinos

CAMERON SMITH will be a Wakefield Trinity player from 2027 onwards after agreeing a four-year deal with the Super League club.

The news of Smith’s exit from Headingley was confirmed yesterday, and now Wakefield have landed the 27-year-old on a mult-year contract.

With over 160 appearances for the Rhinos, Smith made his debut for Leeds at the age of 17 against Huddersfield Giants in 2016 before being made captain in the 2024 season at the age of 25.

Smith said: “I’m really excited to be joining Wakefield next season. It’s a club with huge ambition and a clear vision for the future. I’m looking forward to being part of what’s being built here.

“However, until the end of the season, my full focus remains on giving everything I have for Leeds and finishing my time here the right way.”

Trinity Head Coach, Daryl Powell said: “I am delighted that Cam has agreed to join us from next season.

“He is someone who I have been tracking since I showed him around Featherstone as a kid years ago. He is a top line player who will fit seamlessly into how we play.

“There is no doubt we are going places as a club and this is another great signing to show that.”

Wakefield’s Director of Rugby, Ste Mills said: “Bringing Cameron to the club is a huge statement for us.

“He’s a proven leader, a relentless competitor, and someone who embodies everything we want this team to stand for.

“Cameron has been outstanding at Leeds, and to secure a player of his calibre speaks volumes about the direction we’re heading in.

“He’s hungry, he’s driven, and he’s coming here to win. We believe he’ll raise standards across the entire group, both on and off the field, and we’re incredibly proud to welcome him to the club.”
