  1. Factor in Broncos without Reynolds until play offs, and souths without Latrell. I think Roosters will creep in at expense of bunnies
  2. Technically we are still in play off hunt….but it would require Skolars to win at Cru next weekend.
  3. What is the story on Hornets first try? All media outlets have it scored by Roden but looking at twitter (X) Else seems to be claiming it. Is there an official ruling? Also who was named 18th man? Other clubs include 18th man in announced line ups but we never do…at least on X.
  4. Improvement yet to be reflected in the win column. Barring a miracle (London beating Cru away) its a season without play offs, and the first time we have gone through a season winless against Yorks, Lancs and Cumbria opposition. Thank heavens for expansion! Even if the miracle was to happen, no team with a 7 wins and 11 losses record (which is what we would need) should be in the play offs with a chance of playing in a higher level of rugby Good luck for the rest of season and play offs…your new broom needs to be sweeping clean in the championship…not the rugby league graveyard. Maybe we could invite you lot to a tenth anniversary celebration of THAT play off final next month! You could dress up in ‘hairnets’! Some memories never grow old Until the next time…..
  5. But 4 of top 6 in NCP are from Harry Ramsden’s county so nowt wrong in a general sense. And your points about participation, TV contracts etc apply equally to ther areas. Its a phase the game is going through (long may it continue)
  6. Nowt wrong…yorkshire has found its rightful position.
  7. So very sad…and the current rounds in NRL and QRL include games marking the contributions of the much missed Paul Green (Cowboys v Cronulla and Wynnum Manly v EastsTigers). We seem to be able to do so much for physical ailments and pain but so very little for mental health problems. Too many lost too young.
  8. This wouldnt prevent them signing players….but the players likely to sign would be those with few or any other options. More likely to be a club who are based in Australia and fly in to play home games ( a la the Toronto (Leigh) Wolfpack.
  9. All gone pear shaped at Cowboys the last three weeks, Shows what an influence Val Holmes is on that team.
  10. Everything on the line on Sunday….hope you have managed to fill the charabanc and you enjoy the spectacular sights from the A627(M). Its been a long wait since Easter and all those forward passes! Hornets looking to welcome you the the ‘house of pain’. Should be a great game.
  11. Got to be our biggest game of the season….play offs on the line. In more than 150 years of rugby I don't think we have ever gone through a season winless against teams from Lancashire, Yorkshire and Cumberland/Cumbria. It would be nice to preserve that record with a win against the noisy neighbours. Should be a good crowd with both teams desperate for the points. Come on Hornets!
  12. Yes traditionally the second saturday with the FA Cup final traditionally the third saturday. The championship play off final tended to be the weekend before. i think the crowds started to drop off when it was moved away from that spot to a mid or even late season spot. It was no longer the end of season spectacle for everyone to enjoy with all other business completed…instead it became back to business the following weekend.
  13. Yes, two poorly performing clubs appointed panthers assistants as head coaches this season….the warriors and bulldogs. As they say at the panthers…there could only be one winner….at least based on this seasons results.
  14. Ive just been on the ticket site via Hornets webpage and it seems to be working OK now. The country box was there and I just chose UK of the pull down menu. Hope it works for you. Enjoy the game….but not too much!
  15. Dead right, and if you need proof of this, look at rugby union, law tinkering that has made the game unwatchable.
  16. Paradise found: Wynnum Manly Seagulls 30 Souths Logan Magpies 42 this was 3 v 1 in the penultimate round of the QRL. For the last few seasons Wynnum have been playing one game per season at Ron Stark Oval on North Stradbroke Island which lies in Redland Bay off the mainland communities of Manly, Cleveland and Wynnum. The Island is home for a large aboriginal population and Redland Council sponsor the game as part of promoting health and wellbeing in the community. Ron Stark Oval (not an oval but a rectangular field) lies right by the beach with a large gassy hill on the opposite side. It is not enclosed so there is no entry fee. The annual game is the climax of a festival lasting a few days. Both clubs are feeders for the broncos ( and both teams had multiple players with NRL experience) and the broncos squad paid a visit to the festival along with the Matildas ( Australia’s womens soccer team) during their world cup stop in Brisbane. Ex Bronco, maroon and kangaroo Steve Renouf, who is heavily involved in aboriginal health programmes was game ‘host’ and is revered by the aboriginal community. A sunny winters day with temperature in the high twenties. It was a pleasure to attend the game with loads of local kids participating in pre game and half time activities. The setting is idyllic, sitting on the hill with Redland Bay in the background. The ground is home to the Straddie Sharks and there is a leagues/social club at one end. Travel to ‘straddie’ is by train ( around an hour from Brisbane CBD to Cleveland) a short bus ride to the ferry terminal and a 20 minute ferry ride ($20 return). The ground is a modest 5 minute walk from Dunwich ferry terminal on the island. I strongly recommend prospective visitors to Brisbane check out the date of the annual straddie game. The island is amazing…local buses take you to Amity Point, where wild Koalas can often be spotted in the trees and Point Lookout. Kangaroos ‘roam’ freely on the island and from June to October Whales are just offshore. The buses run all day with an all day ticket costing $10. Yesterday there were loads of whales enjoying the ocean off Point Lookout very close to the shore. Large green turtles also inhabit the waters. The beaches are stunning ( and yes warm enough for swimming even though its winter) and plenty of bush/coastal walking. It really is a piece of paradise just 90 mins from Brissie. A wonderful day of nature, culture and footy. Do it…you wont regret it.
  17. A brave man who tips the broncos to beat the storm. Australia been through 7 prime ministers ( one doing it twice) since brisbane beat the storm at suncorp. Almost one fifth of the Australian population weren’t born the last time it happened while approximately 2.4 million aussies alive at the time are now dead. Go broncos!
  18. Still wear my bears shirt to Magic round and grand final. Weren’t ex bears fans who switched to Roosters included on Israel Folau’s list of people going to hell?
  19. Who would we play if other countries are still playing their domestic schedule in June? NRL teams wont be releasing players…that doesnt leave much.
  20. I was at that game and they played really well against a strong broncos team on a good run. Hard to believe virtually the same team is playing so poorly. Have to play Broncos at home in 2 weeks. A win over the dogs next week will put them on 32 points, possibly enough for the top 8. If not the final round game at Sharks could be a winner takes all. Bit of a Jekyll and Hyde team obviously. Still I dont expect any of the top 4 would mind playing them in the play offs…should they survive.
