World's ten best full backs
Saint Toppy replied to ParisSurtout's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Do you lie in bed every night pleasuring yourself while uttering the words " I love aussie's they're the greatest players in ther world, I love aussie's they're the greatest players in the world....." or maybe " Ooohhh Billy please catch my balls" -
This was only the second good game he's ever managed in a Saints shirt (the other being a play off against Leeds 3 years ago). Every other chance he's had in the 1st team he's been fairly poor. Given the choice i'd have agreed with the Saints board and sold Smith to Keep Eastmond every single time !

Are we gonna get one of these threads every week for at least the next 4 years (or maybe 7 years or longer if Leigh fail to meet the criteria for a 2015 application) The RFL have set their stall out and at least until 2015 the franchise system is here to stay. Instead of incessantly whinging about it the supporters of the clubs not currently in SL should get behind their club and start helping them to build for a future application. As well as failing on the pitch Leigh don't meet the criteria for average attendance so why aren't 'supporters' like Lobby out doing something about that like drumming up support throughout the town ? Also Leigh don't have an academy (another fail) because they claim they can't afford to run one - so where's Lobby out organising regular fundraising events to help the club start one. Lobby - you might get a bit more sympathy on here if you were prepared to put your money or your time, where your mouth is, instead of just sitting on the sidelines an whinging.

Paul Sykes in E ngland squad AGAIN!
Saint Toppy replied to hunsletgiant's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Well he wasn't able to bring the best out of Sykes after having access to him every day of the week (or maybe what we're seeing is the best Sykes will ever be ?) Of the 10 at least the others have had decent seasons for their clubs where as Sykes has just been bl**dy awful ! -
Wigan best supported SL team
Saint Toppy replied to Kenilworth Tiger's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Does anyone have the full list of attendance figures for every team. Saints average this year was 11,184 which is down very slightly from 11,195 last year I'm guessing that this will put us around 4th on the list behind Wigan, Leeds & Hull -
What should the referee have done?
Saint Toppy replied to Wiltshire Rhino's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
###### decision to send Radford off - runied the game (even if it now means Leeds have to go to the pie dome instead of having a cushy home game against the crusaders). Should have warned Bailey for lashing out with the elbow, warned Radford for punching and put both in the bin for 10 to calm down. Penalty to Leeds though because its always the retaliator who concedes. -
There must be some mistake, Ben is surely now too glamorous to represent Cumbria, I mean how will the locals react to seeing him carrying his Prada kit bag and playing in his Jimmy Choo boots

He's only typing this drivel while he gives his right hand a rest from staring at the Tony Smith poster on the ceiling above his bed !

For the record I think the VR got both decisions wrong for Saints, Roby's was a no try and Emmetts was a try (Benefit of doubt), But incidents like this just go to show that even with technology mistakes can be made. Go back a month to the Leeds V Saints game, the VF spent 2 minutes looking at the Danny McGuire 'knock on' and yet still gave the try but when Jon Wells did his analysis for Boots N All on the wednesday he zoomed in on the play and it clearly showed McGuire touched it. VR 's have to make decisions and its inevitable that they will get a couple wrong.

The Carnegie Floodlit 9s 2010
Saint Toppy replied to Tommy The C5t's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Saints are sending a pretty young team- a couple of these guys still play in U18's competition Jamie Ellis, Tom Armstrong, Paul Johnson, Lee Gaskell, Jack Bradbury, Josh Jones, Warren Thompson, Carl Ashall, Scott Hale, Nathan Ashe, Andy Yates, Dave Sutton and Daniel Brotherton Ellis only came back last week from a long term injury and Brotherton only signed for Saints this week from the amateur game -
Stadia we should use for the 2013 World Cup
Saint Toppy replied to ParisSurtout's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
How about using the Reebok stadium for the final - 1st class facilities, fairly easy to get to being just 2 minutes off the M61, less than an hours drive from most of the heartland clubs and not so big that it could end up half empty if England dont make it to the final but big enough to accomodate all the fans that probably will attend if they do. -
The Carnegie Floodlit 9s 2010
Saint Toppy replied to Tommy The C5t's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Looking forward to seeing who wins that. In a recent U18's game a young winger called Danny Brotherton who's just signed a pro contract with Saints actually turned & caught Chisholm in a foot race, and this week Saints have enterd Brotherton into the fastest man race. -
Sky to host a double header of Super League
Saint Toppy replied to Wendall's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Grrrr Bl**dy Sky TV !!!!! I spent half of last night on the phone trying to rearrange my own stag do so we can all get back to St.Helens for the match and the future Mrs Toppy is really pi$$ed off as she can't rearrange her hen party as they're all going away and its all paid for, so she's going to miss it !!! Warrington must be really pi$$ed off as well as this gives Saints a real advantage in knowing exactly what they need to do to get 2nd. -
Stadia we should use for the 2013 World Cup
Saint Toppy replied to ParisSurtout's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Shedingly shouldn't be used, 3 sides of the stadium are utter ######, and given the time of year the WC will be played there's a pretty good chance anyone stood at the western end will get pi$$ wet through. -
Sky to host a double header of Super League
Saint Toppy replied to Wendall's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
If this is true then what a load of ###### !!! Both the Saints & Warrington games should be played at the same time so neither has the advantage. If Warrington play on Friday then Saints will know exactly what they have to do on Saturday to get 2nd which will definately affect the way the game is played. Also Saints have arranged a whole host of events for the Friday night which will all have to be re-arranged -
If Cas go down then I can see them surviving pretty well in the Championship. They have a pretty good record of bringing through their juniors and a loyal fan base (as seen last time they were relegated). Salford & Wakefield i would say would really struggle and would find life in the championship really tough.

Is 4th better than 5th?
Saint Toppy replied to marklaspalmas's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
I'd prefer a top 5 play-off. 1st place go straight to the GF whil 2nd play 5th and 3rd play 4th in a straight knock out. The only possibe down side to this is that the team finshing top will have not played for 3 weeks by the time of the GF. -
Dont worry, he's only bothering you Bulls fans while he dreams up his next 'Anti Saints' rant

Super league lower divison
Saint Toppy replied to Henson Park Old Firm's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Couldn't have put it better The only time P&R should be reintroduced is when we have a fully pro 2nd tier with clubs that have turnovers approaching the levels of SL teams along with stadia fit for SL and successful youth teams who can produce their own 1st team quality players. Without this we just go back to having the yo-yo teams who get promoted, struggle because they dont have enough time to recruit players of SL standard, finish bottom and then get relegated again the next year. A lot of people slag of the RFL but i'm sure they too would love to see more than 1 fully pro league, its just not that easy to do when your competing for cash with so many other sports, and even more so in times of recession. -
Tomkins, Eastmond, O'Loughlin, Peacock and Graham
Saint Toppy replied to Wendall's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
I disagree, I reckon both Tomkins & Eastmond would be huge hits in the NRL. From the games i've watched this year I can't recall seeing a single half back who's stood out as being outstanding. Lockyer has done it a couple of times but far less frequently than he used to, Thurston seems to have hobbled out of every match and Marshall is a bit like Pryce, brilliant when he wants to play but oblivious in half the games. -
I dont get peoples obsession with picking Peter Fox ? I know we're short of wingers but in last years 4N he was pretty awful and he's hardly set SL alight this year either. My first choice wingers would be Hall & Briscoe but if either fo those wasn't available i'd prefer to see a young player like Chris Riley, Will Sharpe or Michael Lawrence given a go before a someone like Fox.
