  1. Sounds about right... find the solution, do it once, but not think any further down the line.
  2. The post was more in response to the previous posts on lower league clubs than the super league clubs in terms of helping them with costs as it would be cheaper than web developers for each club and better than volunteers, whilst also thinking for Super League clubs its a bit more professional as a sport... Really dont want to get into Wakefield bashing on a thread again, as have always quite liked the club since I was a kid and dont want the thread derailed, but I've just been on their website as you mentioned this and wow, just wow!
  3. This sort of thing is so simple.. the NFL does it with the same website template for every franchise and those franchises can afford to employ massive marketing teams if they wanted to! The way they do things with logos etc on the banner head is pretty much the same across the franchises which makes me think that is done by 1 agency employed by the NFL and again these are mutil billion dollar franchises that could easily do this themselves but they dont. Make life easy for people, and also a bit of uniformity actually looks good and professional (as long as the design has a good user journey)
  4. Would it really be that hard to have England v France, England v New Zealand, New Zealand v France then a final... each team gets at least 2 matches, England and New Zealand probably 3 (as they would have done) and its 4 weekends covered (as it would have been)
  5. This case will hinge on whether the authorities knew and put enough emphasis on safety. For example if a group of doctors were saying "HIAs need to be done and a stand down period of 3 weeks implemented" and the authorities said, "actually your alright thanks we'll wait a few years to see" then they are utterly liable surely. If this cannot be proven and the authorities did everything they could with the knowledge of the time to protect the players then, from my limited knowledge of the case (going by what I have seen reported and discussed on things like panorama etc) the players will lose the case.
  6. While i agree and have sympathy for Wakefield my main gripe is that this has been going on for years and while I wouldnt expect heavy investment while you are waiting for something better there is an awful lot of stuff that could have been done that has just been neglected and even pride should have stopped that happening. Weedkiller, new chairs.. just little things but it shows a sad state of not giving a toss..
  7. a lot of the issues, from my limited understanding, will be around how much did the clubs/nations know and had they put in place safeguards. For example the HIA protocols, when did they know this could be done and when did they put something in place. The fact it wasnt just about being hit around the head but about other "shots" and when did they do something about it. They would struggle to sue for something that no one knew anything about, it will all be about knowledge and therefore liability. But its the knowledge available to the RFU/IRB/WRU/RFL that will be key and thats expert knowledge which will be better than the knowledge of each individual who may well not have known the risk to their mental health (though knew they could break their leg)... to be fair when i played in the late 90s and early 00s i knew the risk of concussion but did I know that that could lead to early onset dementia.. no There have to be questions asked. Look at Ireland Fly Half Johnny Sexton who can fail an HIA one Saturday but be back playing the next, yet return to play protocols are supposed to be 2 weeks as set out by the Adult Concussion Management information the RFU have and that has apparently been laid out by the IRB... it makes no sense and that is what will end up getting these sports into trouble.. The key question has to be.. did you do enough to protect with the knowledge of the risk you had? If the answer is no (and i sadly think it is) then this could be very very expensive!
  8. bearing in mind they will probably be able to get a better deal than the first result on google, but the first result on google has those chairs for £15 ex VAT... so a couple of hundred quid sorts that issue out FFS.... and if you stack them and take them in over night they'll last too... its very frustrating!
  9. This is mentioned on the BBC Sport website article, also the fact that vaping is banned in Australian stadiums.. seems a particularly stupid thing to do based on these 2 rules.
  10. My point on the English shirt is not whether people like it or not, as I say I've bought them, don't mind them. My point is there is no brand to build on it as they don't stand out as an RL shirt they are a supporters cheap shirt.. I'm not saying you rip it off for the aussies either.. just saying GB or England is interchangeable to them. Also my point is that you're not ripping GB off, we should, from the start, just have changed the team to England but kept everything else the same, so to go back to it I don't have an issue... The shirt is instantly recognisable as an RL shirt which will help when we are looking to build the visuals of RL and commercial value IMHO
  11. Ooh Nasser Hussain said it so it must be true... As for the last bit, reign it in I got to Yorkshire matches as a Yorkshireman.. also go to internationals and except for the drinking being similar it's not as atmospheric as England at all. Oh and people I go with agree (shows how much that really means..) But it's way off topic.... the roses rugby matches (not cricket) were rubbish... bring them back only if you want to spank money away. Lancashire would need to be artificially constructed to make it work and that takes any edge out of it.. you're not actually playing Lancashire at all.
  12. I don’t see how I’m negative.. I like the idea of going the way they are. England RL has no brand that’s the problem. I’ve bought the shirts but they aren’t a brand they are the type of design companies have made for ages to sell around the football World Cup as supporters shirts. for good or ill England/GB was/is interchangeable to our antipodean friends. Live with it and build it, only Wales have a real chance of coming through separately so GB is a dead duck, especially after the last tour. have a shirt people recognise and stands out and the GB shirt does just that IMHO.
  13. Thought that was already done as Fiji as it was supposed to be last year.
  14. The bonus is.. it might mean GB us dead.. which would be a good thing! People want an iconic shirt for england, they want GB back for the shirt.. here you go then. I don't like the shield badge as much as the new lions head but I can live with it.. but this shirt I shirt we should have done back in 2008.. change the name but keep the shirt.
  15. Sorry, I live in Yorkshire, born and bred with Lancaster (proper) friends. I'm 45 and I've never heard it quoted as the "closest thing domestics cricket had to internationals" especially when we were in different divisions.... thats laughable!
  16. From the email I received it looks like sleeves maybe blue and I think a blue and red v but not easy to tell. 50% for anyone who bought last years short at full price.. seems fair as it was hardly ###### worn!
  17. I'm more annoyed about Belvoir Castle... massive disappointment.. (if you know you know)
  18. What utter uninformed illeducated drivel.. and you've been shown it over and over again by more than just me with facts and links... but you just cannot see hand infront of your face. Ignore time...
  19. I've never seen it in a roses match I have watched. As a born and bred Yorkshireman I have no dislike from people from Lancashire there is no "arrogant Lancastrian" feel about it.. in Aus you have the arrogance of Sydney vs the upstarts in Queensland.. As part of the target audience for this type of match I dont see the appeal and when you look at this board whenever this match is brought up there dont seem to be that many. Lancashire would end up being a construct with many that you are asking to support Lancashire having no affinity to the place anyway which is another part of the issue.. edit: to be clear I am not saying you dont fee that way or the matches below pro level dont have it... but I have never seen it on a Roses match pitch and I have never heard it from the fans of either side.
  20. then thats the way it is... but is it helping them at all with Philbin and Knowles to then say "do you know what I could get an England cap now" and turning their back? Surely we can accept that some countries, even though they are home nations teams, are just at the same level as Germany or Holland in their development? They would be better placed with players who are going to stick it out and building a team/squad. Then really concentrate effort on France and Wales who have the game developing etc I think the switching and giving artificial teams in say Scotland and Ireland (who's game is not shifting forwards) is causing us to miss the other opportunities. When we talk of wanting to play France and Wales its "what about Ireland and Scotland" where do they fit in.. well sadly they don't at the moment. Build the stronger bits then see where we are, but i just find it ridiculous that they'll be people with 10 caps for x country playing for another..
