Spurs are turning down Bayern's £80million offer for Harry Kane. Apparently he can leave for nothing next July. If I was him, I'd refuse to go anyway till his contract is up. He could charge clubs £40million for a 3-year contract and they'd bite his hand off.

I'm colourblind and fail some of those dots-in-a-circle tests. However, the most annoying thing is that I can tell some colours apart ... but often one is not the colour that I think it is. It's mainly problems differentiating between shades of yellow and green and differentiating between shades of blue, green and turquoise. My friend (in her eighties) insists on coming with me and deciding what wallpaper I'm allowed to buy!

That side of the Pennines, the locals require big print, no long words and lots of pictures.

Burgess in at Wire (Merged Threads)

Whatever happens, Sam will be laughing. I like him and hope it works out well. However, if it doesn't ... an "Australian" millionaire gets a shed load of British money and goes back home. -

The worrying thing about the Daryl Powell and Sean Long dismissals is is that our game is turning into football ... knee-jerk sacking of managers at the first hiccup in results. Unlike football, there is not enough money in the game to adequately compensate the unfortunate coaches. We can't expect anyone with real promise as a coach to want the job if he has a young family to support. -
Dolly coined the ultimate Leeds Rhinos catchphrase "People don't realise that it costs a fortune to look this cheap"

She'll mainly work with the ball-handlers ... 9 to 5.

She'll add something up front.

To be fair, Sam's boondocks-league team did well.

FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023

I only watched the last 10 minutes and the shoot-out. That was more than enough for me . Apart from the England goalkeeper, obviously. -

Confused Olga Klebb with Hans Krebs. Stupid, I never met Olga. Neither did anyone else; it was Rosa Klebb. -

England should win this. They've got Olga Klebb coaching them. -

Penalty shoot out. Both goalies are small and the first 2 kickers can't even hit the target. -
Watched the road race highlights last night (went to the Batley game in the afternoon). Mathieu van der Poel was awesome. The usual dickheads spoiled the race by glueing themselves to the road because of oil-company sponsorship being involved. No spectators relieved themselves into empty bottles for application to the protestors' clothes.

Where I live in Bradford is about 200 metres from fields and trees. I've got 3 trees in my garden. I feed the birds but haven't seen a jay for at least 10 years. I went to Skipton yesterday and there was a pair scratting for food in Tesco's carpark. -
Is he interested in coaching Wales?

Today, Wilko stores has gone into administration. I drove past their main depot once and it was enormous. Best of hope for the employees. -

What's happened to own-brand big jars of pickled cabbage and pickled beetroot. The supermarkets only have small jars at really high prices. I expect you can get imported stuff at Polish shops but their brands are always soggy and sweet. This is a national emergency and if Sunak doesn't do something about it, he'll lose seats all across the rustbelt. -
No, and that's why so many over-35 ex-RL players of any range of ability like it. You generally play with a decent bunch of lads on good pitches. Then you have a nice warm shower, go back to a nice clubhouse ... often with hand-pulled beer ... and get a meal. Then, even if you don't get picked again next week, you'll usually play because there are always people crying off in the 1st and 2nd teams. Your kids can play mini-rugby on a Sunday and there's always good conversation and fun amongst the parents group. If you're in the electrial, plumbing or building trade, there's always someone who needs something doing. John Bentley, Graham Steadman, Gary Mercer and Phil Vievers played post-RL for Cleckheaton ... albeit at first-team level. I don't think any of them complained about the place. I once lined up at hooker for the kick off against Huddersfield YMCA 4ths and was faced by the opposite front row ... including Ian van Bellen. He was an absolute gentleman and we all went to work on Monday.
