  1. Just flicking through YouTube and came across an excerpt of Freddie Starr doing his tribute to the song ‘Vincent’ in 1993. Thank God I had my corset on or my sides would have split with laughter and ended up in next doors back yard! Absolute genius.
  2. I accidentally walked into the Butchers and asked if they sold condoms. The Butcher said ‘Try Boots’. I replied ‘I don’t want to kick her to death!’.
  3. How about Derek copying the Atlanta Braves (Baseball). The Braves have a person known as The Freeze who races fans (or should they be called supporters …. who knows) around the outfield in a challenge race with an $100 prize. I wish I knew how to put YouTube footage of The Freeze on here. So here is my idea. Why doesn’t Derek bring along a Leopard and have a raffle to find which fan (or supporter) has the opportunity to race against the Leopard around the pitch. Obviously the fan (or supporter) gets a big head start. If the fan (or supporter) wins the race they get a meat pie of their choice. If the Leopard catches them ……. well it offers SKY something different!
  4. What are you babbling on about my dear chap. At my age it takes me 28 and a half minutes to get on the bar. Then add on 22 seconds to take my socks off. Then add on another 28 seconds to get over the cramp in my toes by rubbing them vociferously. Oh, and naturally there is the compulsory 20 seconds begging and promising I will take her out shopping the following day. Then Geronimo!!!
  5. Hey Johnny if you think that’s a wild night this will blow your socks off!!!!! At the right time of the year after listening to Popmaster we would put on that weeks episodes of HIGNFY and Mock the Week. Pretty stirring stuff you must agree. But now Mock the Week is no more it means we might well be forced to have rumpty tumpty on the bar to while away those 30 minutes
  6. Thank God he is taking popmaster with him. Every Saturday night when me and the missus have nothing on - and I don’t mean clothes …. Ooeeer missus - we open up a bottle of the old vino collapso and listen to the 5 popmasters of that week. Only question for us is whether we can still listen to popmaster when he moves to the new station?
  7. Re: the population growth. Yep younger people seem to want to move to the bright lights, big city and if lucky, bigger bucks. Can’t blame them for that and good luck to those that choose to move interstate. No problem about you referring to Adelaide as Sleepy Joe ……. I used to find Wakefield a bit too hectic!
  8. Ahhh bless. You always know when you have owned the argument if the other person can only give a sarcastic response. You probably didn’t even realise that the EIU stated that ‘the ranking tumblings of Australian - and New Zealand - cities was due to the continued imposition of Covid-19 restrictions while Europe moved on from the Pandemic. That is why Auckland fell from 1st to 34th and Wellington from 4th to 50th. Finally the Board at Warrington would kill to have enjoyed 10 relatively successful years then have one year of struggle. Lovely day here in the City of Churches!
  9. Over the last couple of days I have been seeing quite a lot of small blue boxes with a question mark within it in place of an emoji within posts. Is this just something I am experiencing or do other posters have the same issue?
  10. Well said SS. Also I totally fail to understand an ‘influencer’. To me someone who says they are an influencer is p actually saying ‘I do this because I am incapable of holding down a real job’. As Harry Enfield’s Yorkshireman would say ‘I have two words to describe an Influencer …….. sheeeiitte ………………… and sheeeiitte’.
  11. Yes you are right that Adelaide’s position of third in the Most Liveable City Index in 2021 was partially influenced by the fact that The Economists Intelligence Unit that adjudicates also included how well each city responded to and contained the Covid-19 pandemic as well as looking at around 40 indicators of stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education and infrastructure. For the record Adelaide had just two lockdowns - one of 3 days in November 2020 caused by some lying ###### and a separate seven day lockdown in July 2021 - throughout the whole Covid crisis. However how then do you explain Adelaide’s ranking according to The Economists Global Liveability Index since 2012? 2012 - 5th, 2013 - 6th, 2014 - 5th, 2015 - 5th, 2016 - 5th, 2017 - 5th, 2018 - 10th, 2019 - 10th, 2020 - 3rd, 2021 - 3rd Using your analogy Adelaide would have qualified for end of season play offs in 8 of the 10 years which is equal to Sydney Roosters. EDIT - There are so many list of cities each year by various organisations I hope that I listed the correct positions for Adelaide according to The Economist.
  12. I care not a jot about the protests at Goodison Park. The point that I am trying to make is that some posters - like you - would categorise the people protesting as ‘supporters’ as you define a ‘supporter’ as someone that attends most games therefore putting money into the club. Fair enough that is your individual view. However, daz39 would not term them ‘supporters’ as he does not believe that ‘supporters’ should act in such a manner. Fair enough that is his individual view. Therefore both of you can legitimately argue that you are right. And that is my point …. any type of categorisation is down to the individual.
  13. Here is an anecdote from me. In 2005, we had started the Australian Visa application. After a Cas match late that season, me and a mate were talking to Dave Woods - an Aussie that coached Cas that year in the second tier called the Cooperative Championship. My mate mentioned to Dave that I was emigrating to Australia. Dave asked me where was I going to live. I said ‘Adelaide’. Dave thought for a moment then replied ‘I once went to Adelaide ….. and it was closed’. I though that is just the lifestyle that I want. Adelaide is still the butt of jokes on TV but in 2021 the Economists Global Living Index rated Adelaide as Australia’s most liveable city and third most liveable city in the world. Not bad for a sleepy, backward town.
  14. Horse with a Rugby League connection …….. how about Crisp the great Aussie Steeplechaser. For those youngsters on this Forum go on YouTube and type in ‘Crisp 1973 Grand National’ and as you watch the finish unfold you will see the connection with the Castleford Tigers team of 2017. Heartbreaking, absolutely heartbreaking!
  15. This is where the whole issue of labelling someone a supporter or not becomes a matter of personal opinion. According to some on this thread a ‘supporter’ is someone who attends most if not all games. Therefore the logical conclusion is that many of the people inside Goodison Park today chanting for the Board to go are ‘supporters’ as they attend most if not all games.
  16. No …. Child abuse was when he started taking my niece when she was seven or eight years of age to watch Leeds when they were in the Third Division!
  17. We stay in Leura. A lovely gentle paced town. Stayed at one place and the bed was so big that my side of the bed was in Leura and my wife’s side was in Katoomba!! Done the usual touristy things and really enjoyed visiting the Jenolan caves. Was Brighton far too lively for the both of you
  18. In the 1980’s we used to joke that the only way Leeds would get into Europe is by going on an 18-30 holiday to Benidorm and playing a Benidorm Hotel Waiters All Star XI. I have just reread my post to which you refer. It probably wasn’t clear but it was referring to my brother and some mates that followed Leeds across Europe in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. Not me.
  19. Yep, my heart hopes Saints 20-16 but my head says Panthers 28-10.
  20. You must know my brother Season ticket along with other old mates at Leeds Utd for Donkeys years. Followed them all over Europe and in the Third Division and christened my niece Elland, but we call her Ellie.
  21. Saints obviously. Because I have lived in Oz for 16 years does not mean that I will support an Aussie team over an English one.
  22. No doubt they will. But I hope to God that the Club Secretary/Accountant/Owner understand that every person distributed through the categories that I mentioned is important to a club. If they don’t then they are imbeciles. But the point of my post was to ask why some people feel the need to categorise others. Is it a need to feel superior, patronising or condescending to people who they believe are in a ‘lesser’ category? It is so ironic that some people on here who do believe that they are in a ‘higher’ category than someone else means that their views are more valid may also be vehemently against the proposed IMG categorisation of clubs because they deem that unfair
  23. Bu$$er, just noticed the date. Wouldn’t have minded another long weekend in the Blue Mountains but me and the missus are off to Tassie on 10th Feb till 17th and the following day we are hosting a 30th birthday bbq for our eldest daughter. So I will have to watch the game blatherated after people have gone home. I can’t wait for IMG to take control of the game so these sort of clashes are avoided. P.S. If the Panthers win it will because the NRL is light years ahead of SL but if Panthers lose it will be because they took the game as just a pre season trial. Aussies, the biggest whingers went the proverbial hits the fan!
