When the chairman gave McGuire a 3 year deal, surely there was some acknowledgement there that making cas at least competitive again was a long term mission not a short term fix? When a new coach takes over he sometimes has to work with players he secretly doesn't want, because they are contracted for the next year or two and the club can't or won't pay them off. One coaches star player is another ones worst possible squad member. McGuire needed time, which he wasn't given. He needed the time to ship out the players he thought weren't pulling their weight and bring in ones he knew would do a good job for him. He was maybe a bit to honest in some of his post match interviews. He said it as it was and maybe that ended up counting against him. For me he didn't really look comfortable in front of the camera either, he seemed to fidget and scratch his elbows a lot. The king is dead, long live the king. But I think I will be repeating those words frequently over the next couple of years given the impatience Mr. Jepson at Cas is showing. The thing with 'changing direction' to frequently is that you end up getting lost yourself and not knowing where to go next. -
I gave up watching very early on in this game as it wasn't keeping my interest and went to wind some new line onto my reel for tomorrow morning's fishing trip. I found doing this at least a tad more interesting. After 29 years of SL if this is what we are serving up then it kind of makes you wonder if it's all been worth it!

It won't be all plain sailing for us and the worrying thing is we never know which Warrington side is going to turn up.... The one which played so well and were unlucky to lose at Wembley, or the one which played so poorly v Huddersfield? I'm going for wire by 18, I don't think this will be a walkover but we should have to much for a troubled Salford side.

My top 6 in no particular order. Rovers,FC, Wigan, Leigh ,Leeds, Saints. I think it's season over for us( wire) we are far to inconsistent. It most definitely will be if we lose to FC on Saturday. A sad fall from grace for a club that had some world class stars, played champagne rugby, won at Wembley a few times and got to OT a few times under Tony Smith a little more than a decade ago. Whoever has allowed this to happen should be truly ashamed of themselves.

I used to prefer a 14 team super league. 13 home and aways plus one magic weekend would give 27 rounds. If there isn't enough funding for 14 teams then maybe we need to ask SKY just how serious they are about RL in the UK? The loop fixtures aren't really what the fans want. Also this weekend we play Hull FC at home for the second time and we haven't played them away yet! Surely let's play everyone home and away before the loop fixtures kick in?

He was brought in to change things around. He tried, the players didn't want to change as they were on to cosy a number, and they got rid of him. He's done well at Cas in the past and is doing well at Wakey, clear proof that he wasn't the problem at Warrington. He's also the only head coach that has, minutes before a home game KO walked past me as I pushed my dad in his wheelchair to the disabled spectators area and stopped, asked how we both were, then shook our hands and told us to enjoy the game. I said " we will if we win!" and he laughed before going upstairs to his viewpoint for the match. The man is class and wires loss is wakey's gain, without a doubt.

I have to say I thought Huddersfield were desperately unlucky last week and I was wary of them because they looked like a team that had begun to turn the corner. It's a shame the Warrington players weren't wary of them too, because the wire players clearly thought that all they had to do was turn up to win. I think it's time for a rebuild but this time rip out everything and build new foundations rather than keep trying to build on ones that are already crumbling. Mr. Fitzpatrick, your time as CEO is done. Warrington fans want to see a solid team with some star names and some home grown talent that at least gives 100% every week regardless of whether they win. What we don't want anymore is your stupid gimmicks such as Wolfie trying to invade a pie shop in Wigan, or our players kicking a pie and announcing " the big pie smash" before losing at home to Wigan 28-0, or a plane flying over saints stadium telling them that the wolves were "waiting!" ( I think we lost the following weeks game v saints too!) No more gimmicks. Clear your desk and take whoever is responsible for recruitment ( if it's not you) with you. Sam Burgess, you gave it your best go as a rookie head coach, but your best is no longer good enough and in effect you should never have been given the job at Warrington in the first place. We are surely to big a club to be someone's coaching guinea pig? I can only imagine you came cheaper than the next man on the list. I'm surprised that businessmen such as Moran and Middleton, men whom have amassed fortunes via their own business accumen sit silently and watch as another season heads towards the end with only disappointment and a feeling of frustration waiting( again!) Warrington upped the tempo in the last 15 yesterday. My question is where were they for the previous 65 minutes? Apparently we are low on confidence according to Burgess. Sadly he doesn't seem to have a clue what to do about it, (rookie coach on learning curve springs to mind again?) We need a big name head coach who can attract big name players. And the coach should have the final say on who we sign, not some CEO who thinks he knows best when he doesn't, and not some board member who wants to go for the cheaper option all the time( who on earth signed Russell and Musgrove? Whatever they were paid, they weren't worth it!) Get a grip, those in charge at Warrington, before all those fans who walked out early yesterday start to vote with their feet even more and don't bother to turn up in the first place!
