NRL and International Footy
Liverpool Rover replied to rlno1's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
There was the GB tour, England actually played a test last year, when did the Kangaroos last play a game? There has been a couple of test series vs NZ plus the game in Denver. Add on the Four Nations comps then outside of World Cups I would wager that England have played more games than the Kangaroos have. -

More than the Aussie authorities do. The RFL wouldn’t try to undermine international RL for the benefit of a three game series between Yorkshire and Lancashire -
NRL and International Footy
Liverpool Rover replied to rlno1's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
The NRL couldn’t give two hoots about the international game. I wouldn’t be surprised if they saw a strong international game as a threat to Origin. If they had control of it their only aim would probably be to run it into the ground. -
Hull KR sack Tony Smith
Liverpool Rover replied to Old Frightful's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
The club is in abetter position than it was when he took over and had the team playing some great rugby but it’s probably force he best that he has left. The team was in a real slump and it was hard to see them getting out of it while he was in charge. The slump coincided with his announcement that he was leaving at the end of the year and the way that he went about doing it. It must have had some effect on the players. -
Passed away today aged 58. He was battling cancer. Was a great player for Hull KR.

Are you sure England is better then Samoa?
Liverpool Rover replied to Young Blood's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
I’m expecting there will be a lot of players Wane coached at Wigan in the squad. He will trust them to be able to play his style of rugby and I think for Wane that will be the most important thing, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Joe Burgess and McIlorum were in the squad. -

Double Headers - Women's game
Liverpool Rover replied to Dave T's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
The womens games should be stand alone events because having their games first makes it seems like they are the support act for the main event and they deserve more than that. -
This Promotion/Relegation is a Farce
Liverpool Rover replied to The Daddy's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Just because the type of licensing we had last time didn't really work doesn't mean that it can't work at all. P&R doesn't really do anything to grow the game IMO because when teams from outside the heartlands get into Super League you can only guarantee that they will be there for one season and by the time teams are promoted most of the players that they would need to sufficiently improve the team would have been signed up elsewhere. -
Got round to watching it this morning. Huddersfield for all their territory and possession didn’t have enough of a lead at HT to show for it but you have to give some credit to Wigans defence for that. The Smith try at the start of the second half was crucial and I think it was the first time Huddersfield had really let Wigan get round the outside of them. The missed kicks were a factor but the penalty in particular was a glaring miss. As for the two Smithies incidents players have been sent off for those.

Vote to reduce salary cap by Super League
Liverpool Rover replied to Jughead's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
When it has been in the news that one of our brightest prospects looks a dead cert to be going to the NRL and another one seems to be going as well certain clubs have decided to try to get the salary cap reduced even further? -

The ending of the final episode of Derry Girls last night was brilliant TV. -
Maurice Lindsay passed away.
Liverpool Rover replied to Desert Skipper's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
He divided opinion but in his time as head of Wigan and the RFL he oversaw something of a boom period in the game and recognised the game needed to change and a vision about doing it. -
Promotion & Relegation/Licencing hybrid system
Liverpool Rover replied to JAG's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
After today’s result the relegation battle is almost done and dusted and we aren’t even half way through the season. I thought that they would have a chance of staying up but then Ford and Kheirallah walked out which was a big blow for them.- 387 replies

Promotion & Relegation/Licencing hybrid system
Liverpool Rover replied to JAG's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
There is the chance of being promoted but it is what happens after promotion that is the problem. After a season of championship rugby the jump to the intensity of Super League rugby is a big one and recruiting players is difficult because you can only guarantee one year of being in Super League.- 387 replies
