  1. There was the GB tour, England actually played a test last year, when did the Kangaroos last play a game? There has been a couple of test series vs NZ plus the game in Denver. Add on the Four Nations comps then outside of World Cups I would wager that England have played more games than the Kangaroos have.
  2. More than the Aussie authorities do. The RFL wouldn’t try to undermine international RL for the benefit of a three game series between Yorkshire and Lancashire
  3. The NRL couldn’t give two hoots about the international game. I wouldn’t be surprised if they saw a strong international game as a threat to Origin. If they had control of it their only aim would probably be to run it into the ground.
  4. The club is in abetter position than it was when he took over and had the team playing some great rugby but it’s probably force he best that he has left. The team was in a real slump and it was hard to see them getting out of it while he was in charge. The slump coincided with his announcement that he was leaving at the end of the year and the way that he went about doing it. It must have had some effect on the players.
  5. Passed away today aged 58. He was battling cancer. Was a great player for Hull KR.
  6. I’m expecting there will be a lot of players Wane coached at Wigan in the squad. He will trust them to be able to play his style of rugby and I think for Wane that will be the most important thing, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Joe Burgess and McIlorum were in the squad.
  7. It's something like one win in two months now. If this keeps up Smith won't last the season.
  8. The womens games should be stand alone events because having their games first makes it seems like they are the support act for the main event and they deserve more than that.
  9. Just because the type of licensing we had last time didn't really work doesn't mean that it can't work at all. P&R doesn't really do anything to grow the game IMO because when teams from outside the heartlands get into Super League you can only guarantee that they will be there for one season and by the time teams are promoted most of the players that they would need to sufficiently improve the team would have been signed up elsewhere.
  10. From what I’ve heard so far Rovers have played well and Salford have been awful but I’ll take this after the last month.
  11. Got round to watching it this morning. Huddersfield for all their territory and possession didn’t have enough of a lead at HT to show for it but you have to give some credit to Wigans defence for that. The Smith try at the start of the second half was crucial and I think it was the first time Huddersfield had really let Wigan get round the outside of them. The missed kicks were a factor but the penalty in particular was a glaring miss. As for the two Smithies incidents players have been sent off for those.
  12. It was a good effort from Rovers but we are missing Lewis IMO. Also Rovers need to start attacking more from deep as they line up too flat.
  13. When it has been in the news that one of our brightest prospects looks a dead cert to be going to the NRL and another one seems to be going as well certain clubs have decided to try to get the salary cap reduced even further?
  14. The ending of the final episode of Derry Girls last night was brilliant TV.
  15. If the clubs get to vote on whether to approve any plans then it will end up being a failure. Clubs won't vote for anything that would lessen their chances of being in Super League.
  16. He divided opinion but in his time as head of Wigan and the RFL he oversaw something of a boom period in the game and recognised the game needed to change and a vision about doing it.
  17. When he was first injured he was meant to be out for a couple of months and then was picked on Saturday a couple of weeks later and is now out for about three months.
  18. It is a blow and we weren’t scoring the points we were last year so without our first choice halves it will be more of a struggle. I would imagine Takairangi will take over. If he doesn’t play this time then why has the club bothered to keep him?
  19. We may be missing some players for this game and I’m expecting it to be a close one but I think we will come out on top.
  20. After today’s result the relegation battle is almost done and dusted and we aren’t even half way through the season. I thought that they would have a chance of staying up but then Ford and Kheirallah walked out which was a big blow for them.
  21. Rovers just weren’t at the races. I wouldn’t have thought that they were distracted by next week as this was an important game if we are to be seen as genuine top 6 contenders. Maybe the team just hit the wall after the easter games.
  22. There is the chance of being promoted but it is what happens after promotion that is the problem. After a season of championship rugby the jump to the intensity of Super League rugby is a big one and recruiting players is difficult because you can only guarantee one year of being in Super League.
  23. If Rovers can get a couple of early scores then they will have the game won after 20 minutes given Leeds confidence at the moment.
