  1. Between Montpellier and Marseille. Montpellier is a nice place though as is Marseille after a lot of work! TBF the area that Paul mentions would be a ‘must see’. From Isle sur Tet you can visit les Orgues and also drive up to Villefranch du Conflent and take the Petit train Jaune up to the Spanish border. Or drive and go to the outdoor baths at Thomas le Bains. After that, on the same route, up to Font Romeu (used to play golf in comps sometimes up there). Andorra ain’t too far away then! North of I-sur-Tet, StPaul de Fenouillet drive to Gorges de Gallimus, visit Peyrepretreuse, Qeribus and Tautavel. Our favourite always wa and always will be down from St. Cyprien, Port Vendres, Paullilles, Banyuls, Cebere and Port Bou. Paul would’ve sneaked across the border during Covid on that route or from Jonquera to Banyuls. Swimming in Paullilles is like being in a fish tank. Also it’s an old dynamite works which has been preserved. If you go to Banyuls and like walking, you can take roughly the same route across to the Spanish border, psst the refuge and towards Jonquera. This is the route Airey Neave took down on his escape journey from Colditz. enough?
  2. Let’s see how the new coach at Lezignan goes on. I’ve heard good things of him.
  3. The council owned much of the housing stock and have since regenerated a big percentage. They have also assisted HKR. wakefield/cas councils, I think everyone shudders.
  4. would be like civil war. The stadium is the problem and I can’t help feeling that the Council could have assisted in developing the Boulevard at the time/at some stage as that whole area has been part of housing developments overseen by them. A lot of good stuff happening in Hull with development at the mo.
  5. Yeah, that’s where I’d say the standard is but there are some hidden gems in there with players like Lacans at Fev and another lad who’s name escapes me at Hull developing from Elite 1. imo the way forward for France is to develop their own leagues. If we look at Catalans, there will be a bunch of good youngsters being rejected every year. Some of these will be late developers who could strengthen Limoux, Les Sangliers, Albi, St.Gaudens etc. A competition between the top 4 French and top 4 UK League 1 every year would show a good benchmark to work from.
  6. He has to be admired for his humility as well as his Rugby skill and nouse.
  7. I think Goudemand is a good player but maybe doesn’t fit with their plans.
  8. Excerpt from the link but great to see. John Hill, Director and Treasurer of the Brynmawr and District Museum, said: “We are delighted that this project is finally coming to fruition and that Brynmawr will now have a fitting memorial to the life and achievements of this remarkable man.” Mike Nicholas, president of Wales Rugby League, said: “I’m delighted to be part of this unveiling. Roy was an innovative visionary and had a pastoral outlook to the sport. Others followed but he was the start of modern coaching methods.”
  9. Agree with that. If the ban covered all games of RL then that would be clear enough and arrangements for reserves games were to benefit player development.
  10. Never gave anything less than 100%. Defended strong, scored at whatever level he played at for years then a quick phone call from Watson. The measure of two men.
  11. Maybe do some research around what is going on in Hull before posting sweeping statements. Plenty of progress across all forms of RL in the city.
  12. doesn’t sound as if it was a very professional way to let Jerry know. Just a few hours before the club announced it. https://www.loverugbyleague.com/post/jermaine-mcgillvary-breaks-silence-on-sit-huddersfield-giants-exit-im-gutted-it-should-have-been-handled-better
  13. I saw this last week - On a similar vein except for the dispensation. There must be so, so many American lads drop away altogether once the pro picks have been made from colleges. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/nrl/article-12494985/NRL-use-Vegas-promotional-tour-chance-lure-ex-NFL-college-athletes-players-rugby-league-open-trials-held-American-footballers.html
  14. I would go the opposite way but it’s neither here nor there really. Schofield was a superb centre and a good stand off. For England squad I don’t think we we will look much further than Williams, Lomax, Dodd and Smith.
  15. Yeah, I agree with that to an extent. Just the gamble that clubs will let them develop - or, stand the pain if they don’t. edit: just thinking about it, how many clubs have imports in at half back (so or sh)? I can only think of Saints and Huddersfield who don’t but I could be wrong.
  16. Schofield didn’t start playing stand off regularly until around 89/90 with other notable stand offs/halves being Edwards, Goulding, Paul bishop, Beardmore (forget which) maybe Neil Holding and Tony Myler. I think you could class 2 of them as GB quality but still better than what we can muster up today.
  17. Many have bypassed the RFL coaching scheme but most have gone through it - that includes uk coaches!
  18. The long range try that Addo Carr scored for the Dogs was as good as I’ve ever seen. Steps, strength, speed and a touch of nouse in standing up the fb.
  19. No chance Tony smith leaving. Several reasons but think the only thing he could be questioned on would be the pre season fitness. He took a chance, imo, on taking an easier approach for players who had had long term injuries/recurring niggles and it backfired.
  20. I think wire have done good business with the Clarke transfer. Been a great player but the right time to go.
  21. There are plenty, just need to get a bit of funding to kick start them. Insurance to play at all levels in France is a costly problem but no shortage of facilities.
  22. It’s pretty good running on the peage to the French rl heartlands but still quite a distance (I estimate 5 hours to Barnyias territory in Lezignan and a days drive to St.Gaudens.) let’s hope they start steady and encourage youngsters development as a priority and Mairie funding not far behind. If they do that and are willing to put that effort in for 8-10 years, then they have a good chance to create something sustainable. Or, try the VSL route/promises and fizzle out. Hope it’s the former!
  23. Bit like your good self then. Ok, we’ll watch out for that. Thanks.
  24. OurLeague is just not good enough. Who ever ‘manages or develops it’ has had enough time now or isn’t being given enough time/ funding to achieve a better standard.
