  1. I was oddly confident about this one as we have a pretty good record against Bradford in recent years. Hopefully can now kick on. Great result for the Valkyrie as well.
  2. I wasn't expecting anything from that but we were truly rubbish. Depressing afternoon.
  3. Need at least two more wins, and maybe even one more I think. We'll see. Oxford City are definitely done though.
  4. Oh God, how long have you got? I guess the short version of this season is that we started with an enthusiastic amateur as manager and got terrible results, hired a former Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper as head of recruitment, recruited an absolute set of misfits with no coherent idea of how they were supposed to play, and sacked the manager and hired another one with a completely different playing philosophy (twice). The current manager was previously flying high with Worthing in the National League South, but clearly didn't know anything about any of our players or our league when he arrived. Hopefully he has been learning quickly as we won the last two, but it's going to be a scrap to stay up. All this with one of the biggest budgets in the division. Absolute object lesson in how not to run a football club, but we've been a basket case for years and this kind of #######how has long been coming.
  5. That record could be under threat here...was always going to be a horrendous mismatch.
  6. Yes, the threads are often very useful to me as I will normally be watching in the pub and there won't be sound on unless there's no footy on the other screens, so I don't always understand what the hell is going on. This can also happen when I watch live games, to be fair. I can see why you wouldn't relish moderating them, though.
  7. There was some bother but I don't think it was really anything to do with the game - some lads coming out of the cinema and had a sherbert too many as far as I could see. Police vans all over the place though.
  8. Yeah, true. I wasn't expecting a win, but I did think we'd give them a game, and we really didn't.
  9. Single red lines on the 20 and 40 at York today.
  10. Combined Nations has been entertaining but it isn't a proper international. I think there's a place for it though.
  11. That Red Star Belgrade game was ace. It was blowing a howling gale, Red Star's kick-off didn't go 10 metres and Millom landed the resulting wind-assisted penalty from halfway. Never seen anything quite like it.
  12. I'd love it if we played internationals at York but the ground capacity is 8,500. Not big enough.
  13. It's what was so frustrating about the world cup. Australia were absolutely there for the taking had we made the final, but no, we got beat by a Samoa side we'd put 60 points on just a couple of weeks before. Bloody stupid game, it'll never catch on.
  14. I reckon Asterix the Gaul would have been quite handy at stand off.
  15. I know it won't happen but surely Penrith should be playing over here this time.
  16. Irrelevant pedantry really, but just because it's doing my head in on this thread: "Criteria" is plural. The singular is "criterion". So it makes no sense to say e.g. "The criteria is what it is". Carry on.
  17. I guess with gridiron you don't expect a scoring opportunity with every "set" of four downs, but you do have to make 10 yards over those four plays or you lose the ball.
  18. Not only are they in the top flight but they won the whole thing...
  19. All over the news, this. Great stuff and so well-deserved from the players who have been outstanding.
