  1. Hello Harry, I don’t do social media too - but can’t avoid digital promo for the RL tests. This is likely to have happened via looking at RL materials online or talking about the subject ‘in earshot of the smartphone’. The latter has happened to us after my wife raised the subject of going to Everton to watch the test. Pretty soon afterwards, our devices started bringing up the messages in online display adverts and my wife’s Facebook feed. For Google, or equivalent, read Pandora’s box opened. https://ads.google.com/intl/en/home/
  2. Post-shoulder injury, Cust’s better Wigan performances came from hooker. He really can pass a ball from the floor for the forward to charge on to at speed. Good luck to Pryce. We need our good young talent to develop.
  3. Welcome Lucy. Have fun. And… congratulations on sparking this forum’s most positive thread yet.
  4. With regards to The Business Desk, the headline is click bait to accompany an article that seems to rely heavily on cut'n'pasting an announcement. It would have been good for the item to pose the suggested questions referenced in the header. This Desk piece doesn't have a leg to stand on otherwise. On Salford, they appear to have finance and security behind them now, if the owners' stated motivations are firm. That's great news for any RL side - but especially one that is so entertaining with committed support, having dug deep financially during urgent spells. Good luck Salford and enjoy what looks now to be calmer times off the field.
  5. Agree with all points generally. For Wigan, if he made a successful switch to being a second row (do I remember right he could fill in there?) then he would have more of a chance at this club. But that’s not really in the player’s best interests as we aren’t overburdened with proven homegrown centres in Super League. My hunch? Imagine Wire are favourites to retain him. This time, reportedly, with a more measured contract. Reason being Warrington are altogether different to the club King left temporarily.
  6. Super League, therefore, needs to get the telephone number of Bonilla’s agent.
  7. A thrilling, intimidating enclosed place to visit when Wire had the ferocity of Boyd, Tamati and Roach, alongside the artistry of Woods, Holden and Blake. The adjoining Legends nightclub was a great Friday night too. As acceptable as the HJ is, Wilderspool was exciting, vibrant and scary to a then-young man. OP - great thread. Thanks both.
  8. Millions if you don't keep on top of things. With £8m currently quoted for Wigan's stadium by a locally regarded poster, bottom message. https://forums.rlfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=649034 Worryingly, the Brick Stadium only opened 25 years ago.
  9. This^^, throw in your earlier mention of vectors and, please, I now just need you to mention Adobe Illustrator (or Affinity Designer), package or eps to shout 'House!' in my impromptu game of graphic design bingo. And on an RL message board too. Good work sir.
  10. Would you say, Mark, positive in the mane? I don’t think it’s that paw…
  11. Paul Bishop, but only at Warrington and not while at Saints, Halifax or wherever. Yes Wire fans, I particularly remember those five drop goals in a match.
  12. Two well matched sides and, Bevan French’s play aside, wonder if Harry Smith’s kicking was a significant difference. Tip of the hat to KR. Great support for a smart club making fine progress alongside the likes of Warrington and Leigh.
  13. Not sure even Covid can lay a finger on Field or French. A final featuring two great sides, one going for a quadruple in a season. Cannot wait.
  14. Sorry if this has been said already, as I haven’t read all the posts in the thread. But, ahem, can a leopard change its sports?
  15. Good post Jimmy. The above point, I think, is on to something. Wembley is like many new-ish stadia nowadays in that it feels soul-less, like a (very expensive) visit to Ikea rather than something akin to the genuine magic of the old stadium. It doesn't have to be like that. Spurs and Arsenal's newer stadia are comparably expensive but I came away from both of those having had a much more enjoyable experience. As for other alternatives, I'd prefer trips to other large stadia in London, Cardiff, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dublin before returning to Wembley. Yesterday's game also feeling (to me) somewhat flat didn't help matters either.
  16. A lot of good ideas here. Imagine the club is already doing this type of thing - but donated shirt and stadium sponsorship, alongside nominated club charity and other fundraising, in support of this would be something for us all to get behind. https://www.leedsth.nhs.uk/services/leeds-motor-neurone-disease-mnd-care-centre/rob-burrow-centre-motor-neurone-disease-appeal/
  17. When you are repeating the word 'department' to explain anything you can assume the action lacks substance. Leeds RL support deserves better than this current on-field malaise, while whoever signed off on the communication materials should consider a different career.
  18. Decades ago I played for my town’s schools team. We got hammered by Leigh routinely. Sweaty’s fact suggests the supply line remains vibrant. Only right and fair then that the town’s RL club can prosper from its fair share of the emerging talent. Well done Leigh and Salford.
  19. I enjoy watching semi-pro, non-league football for many of the reasons stated by Meast. But also due to the regular chats about diets between home supporters and (oft-chunky) away team 'keepers. Despite the barbs, most end with each wishing the other good luck for the rest of the season.
  20. Context for Click... A large group of Wimbledon AFC supporters fought passionately for decades to return to playing locally after restarting their club from the bottom rungs. This in the aftermath of setting up the MK Dons franchise. Such admirable fervour results in a 7,600 average in Wimbledon presently. For the Broncos to simultaneously get 5k in their second season, in a match against a French club (with presumably low travelling support), suggests a glimmer of hope for RL in London.
  21. For context, Wimbledon AFC's average Plough Lane attendance is 7,600 for the past couple of seasons.
  22. Will take that, as I am rarely. Thanks Johnny. Thanks also to Andy JG for posting those excellent photos. Am I right in thinking one of them sees the current England coach is face down in mud?
  23. May I add John Pendlebury to the list? In terms of Harry... such an elegant player with ball in hand, resolute and highly likeable too. That despite this spectator being of the cherry and white persuasion. Looking forward to watching the film as I wish the game still had loose forwards like Pinner, Pendlebury, et al. Just like I wish there were more stand offs like John Woods, Tony Myler, Nigel Wright... It's still a good game but artists like these seem to not figure as much nowadays. Or maybe I'm old and living in the past.
  24. Peter Wilson, of course. For those that haven't had the pleasure, Peter was a warm, welcoming person to the club and generous with his time. Glad to hear you are still in the game. All the best sir
