MOM Sheffield v Featherstone Rovers

One of you could get rid of Fev BUT the other one would need to get rid of Toulouse.....Good luck.

I don't get this that they are over thirty malarkey. People in general are now younger and fitter than they were in the sixties for instance and even then people would say that forwards were a lot better when they reached thirty. Obviously some good 'young uns' would be OK thrown into the mix but you can't beat experience somewhere along the line. And it is really up to IMG what clubs have got to offer beyond 2024 and I think that our club is progressing well.

I know what you mean with Gledhill. I used to watch him on " Show me the money " on YouTube just for the entertainment value alone but I can't seem to find any recent additions anymore so I don't know whether he has stopped broadcasting the show. His interviews with the Bradford coaches after matches are top dollar when he tries to put words into their mouths just to appease his own anxieties when they've lost. I do understand though that their commentaries are aimed at their own fans but some things are quite comical when bias sets in.
-
The Halifax commentator and Gledhill at Bradford are as equally entertaining during commentary. I thought it was just me noticing the catchphrase " nothing given". He repeats it over and over again when he assumes Fax haven't been given the rub of the green and so I was dumbfounded when he made that call about O'Brien needing an Oscar. When players do that and it was obvious to all in attendance that he was trying to influence a young and up and coming ref then it is they that should be dismissed. All in all Fax did deserve their victory but one wonders how it would have planned out had Kheirallah not been sin binned. The ball was on the side of Kheirallah and he should not have walked. As a side note to the Fax commentator it would also be nice if he tried to use Jouffrets name without the over use of the French accent

If you watch the highlights of York v Toulouse on you tube. Admittedly they are only highlights but Toulouse don't do hard yards they just sling the ball about. York seemed to become wise to the effect and did the same and it almost paid off. Now consider this. For various reasons we had a calibre of players not on the field at Halifax the likes of Davies Bussey Hardcastle Yei Day Ford Lacans Hall and Chisholm. All of whom would be instrumental at play off times. We have no right to presume that we could go there and walk all over them. I agree with a lot of posters that we need to change our mindset from bullying teams and try to play more expansively.

It's no gimme that Fev will actually make the final and after yesterday then it should be Halifax that are talking just as loudly about super League. I watched Fax on you tube against Sheffield last week and the two performances bear no resemblance. Sport is weird Sheffield have been beaten twice I believe against Whitehaven but still remain strong contenders and a threat in the forth coming play offs. The eagles will be a totally different side when they front up to Fev in a fortnight. Players up their game against the so called favourites. Fev are no Leigh they are just a tiny bit better than some of the top teams and can be found out by the better coaches on any given day. I always advocate that a team that finishes top should always be rewarded with a seasons effort by being promoted. Now if that was the case would Fev be eight points clear today? Some teams are happy to plod into the play offs knowing that two good games will win the prize. Makes for an interesting finish. The one thing I do like is when the best side wins and that can be said of yesterday.
-
Halifax were best side by a 'country mile' Why? Because Fev can't cope with a side that slings the ball about. Toulouse never broke sweat in hard yards and if Sheffield had not come to play the dirty card they would have beaten us too. McDermott used to say you only learn by defeats Let's hope so. Well played Fax and if that last minute charge down had come off it would have been a right robbery.

When the opposition are given 24 play the balls in a row on your own line you tend to question the ref rather than your own indiscipline. The defence was absolutely outstanding in that period. I've no qualms with Thaler but we need to look at the reasons why we gave away the penalties and six agains while Batley were on our line. Someone on Facebook said against better opposition we would have been in trouble. But as far as I'm concerned there is only one other team that I would class as better opposition. So well done Fev.

No I didn't see a super League team on the pitch today either. Batley are not quite good enough yet......and FEV well we are not counting our chickens just yet at the moment we are just concentrating on being a dominant championship side. Well done to your support by the way. You bring more than some clubs do and don't cause any trouble neither.
-
I think you do quite well not attracting players. Joint second in the league and a pain in the butt to a certain team that I support.
-
IMG were brought in to improve the game in general. Like for instance make the game more attractive then people in Featherstone Batley Halifax Workington Whitehaven and Swinton for example will eventually flock to games. So instead of this they give a lot of clubs no hope of achieving what they propose by placating the top clubs by giving them an outrageous advantage. The result will be alienating clubs even more than they are at present. Last week Leigh and Hull KR gave the so called elite a massive kick up the backside. It's about advancement brought about by results on the field NOT written on a piece of paper that most fans will need a calculator to work out which league they are good enough for. The product on the field is good. It needs more media coverage on terrestrial TV and Promotion and Relegation is still the best way forward. Perhaps the two tier super leagues of ten should have been given more credence.
-
Why don't IMG sod off now?. A promoted club have put the excitement back into the game not least the Challenge cup. Come on Hull KR.
-
Exactly. If you lose narrowly to a side that you expect to get walloped by you start to look at the things that go against you during the game. It's human nature. A couple of weeks ago York also tested Fev to the limit but their fans were up in arms and quite rightly so of a forward pass that led to a Fev try. The move though was such that had the pass been ok the outcome would have been the same but rules are rules and the touch judge should have pulled it up.What us fans don't do is look for the things that go FOR us in a match and moreover in a season. Fair play though to Barrow they must have put an awful lot of effort into the performance.

Leigh v Wigan London v York Or I could be totally wrong.

First of all let's not presume we will get to the final and if and when we do then have a look at the weather forecast. Cos I've heard Halifax Batley Sheffield and Batley can play in the British weather -
He is entertaining. He lights up the Fev forum when we lose albeit that hasn't been too often of late. Think someone on here doesn't get the banter though cos some of his posts have gone missing. It's only sport not life and death. You seem to be one of the level headed ones on here SK it's always interesting reading yours and a few others who comment on this board. Good luck in your up coming games.
-
I don't want to get a reputation like you. There's no room for two Coolies. I just hope Dewsbury lose there next match on the same day as Fev do then it won't be as painful
-
So just to put things into perspective. Next season each fan of the top championship club will be given a slide rule a tape measure a census form and a calculator to work out if you've bettered the worst performing super League side. I'd put a laughing emoji on the end of that if I thought that was remotely funny. Then there again will there be many fans that can be bothered?
-
After sixty years of watching the RFL try to spread the game into other areas it becomes a bit of a bore in the end. There are not the finances (without a sugar daddy)to dump a new club from other areas into Super League with the hope that people will attend. The amateur game has become neglected and the pathway for ambitious young players to progress as been stunted due mainly to the lack of reserve team football at all clubs. Player talent has been massively reduced in the past few years because young players are turning away from the game.
-
Makes you wonder where the game is heading really. It's my sixtieth year watching Fev in August. I've seen Donny Bramley and Keighley win handsomely at Post Office Road and in the same year we went on to win the Challenge Cup for the first time. The magic of the Challenge cup in those days was unbelievable. NOW I couldn't care two hoots if St Helens Wigan Warrington or Leeds get to the final or not because whatever people believe we are actually watching two sports in one. Super League and Rugby League. The sport was divided with greed twenty odd years ago and alienated from the communities where it thrived. If I wasn't so entrenched with the habit of following Fev I wouldn't give the sport my time of day.
