  1. Not sure of the value of those perks if Nigel Wood is still around.
  2. https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/jonny-lomax-st-helens-news-22434827.amp This Jonny Lomax?
  3. Second time you have made this sort of comment about a “man.” Perhaps you need to address your own insecurities?
  4. Yeah I know what you mean, they were winding each other up all night and he was definitely having a pop at him rather than gesturing at the ref but it still didn’t sit right. Bentley is petulant, always has been, shame because he offers a lot as a player.
  5. Waving cards or sticking up 10 fingers to get a player sent off or sin binned should see a yellow card to that player also IMHO, as should the over dramatic football reactions. Only way to clamp down on it. Big Al, Austin and Newman could and perhaps should have been taking a seat for 10 minutes last night. Our game used to be better than that. Newman reminds me a little of Paul Newlove, exciting player. Saints struggled with him at times, only going to get better. Whoever threw a bottle at Bentley should get a life ban, I’d be surprised if they don’t.
  6. Fabulous play then from Leeds, great to watch. Deserved a try, may come yet
  7. On the face of it this seems a solid and sensible move by the Wigan Club. Not sure if Cooper is part of the expected clear out at Wire or has decided to move on anyway. As an outsider looking in, he always appeared as one of Wire’s better players, so I am surprised to see him going.
  8. I didn’t love him as a player. When somebody plays for your bitter rivals with such ‘uncompromising’ passion they can be hard to love but…what a great servant to his club and the game. The guard of honour at the end of his last game from Grand Final rivals shows just how much he is respected within the game. Nice to see him honoured.
  9. As a saints fan, I’d miss him. Been great to watch, that Hat trick at headingley a particular highlight, however players come and go. Rare that you get an O’Loughlin or Roby now, especially when they have come from other areas of the country or other countries. Like Thompson and Bentley, if players see their future elsewhere then good luck to them, it’s a short career. That said I’ll be made up if he stays!
  10. Thanks for that. Napa hasn’t lived up to the hype, interesting to see if this signing will help bring the best out of him.
  11. Great signing. Just what Catalans need. Wonder how many years Napa is signed for?
  12. Fages doesn’t have much luck with CC finals does he? Hopefully he will have more opportunities in future.
  13. Hard to find the stats on this but if you Google you’ll find mention of him on the Saints heritage site at Full Back, Centre and Loose Forward. Another article has him filling in at 9 under Eric Hughes. I remember (maybe incorrectly) an interview on Radio Merseyside where they said to him something like ‘you have played every position at Saints bar prop..’ and Veivers interrupted to say he filled in there when there was an injury. Absolutely a full back, without doubt a back but did play all over the park. Wonderful servant.
  14. Phil Veivers definitely played every position at St Helens pre- Super League.
  15. Agree with that mate, thankfully I don’t think the coaching and playing group believe the hype from some. Sure they know they are good but they work damn hard at being good. Wigan proved 2 weeks ago that we are beatable and others, like Wire tonight, have shown our vulnerability. That said the desire within the group pulls Saints through most weeks.
  16. I thought Wire were really good tonight, Saints looking as clunky as they did in the cup semi but how much of that is down to the opponents? In a match with many very good players on the field I thought Wrench was one of the very best.
  17. That pass from Reynolds sums Hull up I am sorry to say. Their fans deserve better.
  18. Hull have numbers and keep trying one man stuff. A smarter team would be beating Saints tonight. Hull still might.
  19. Yeah great to see and for such important charities, does anyone have a link to donate?
