2016 NRL Match Thread Round 9

Yep, that's right. The poor Broncos are so badly treated by the NRL, being forced to play all their home games on Friday night and never allowed to take home games on the road like all the other teams, that, to make it up to them, they get a double-header at Suncorp and other clubs, like Canterbury, take home games to Suncorp.

We have to be very careful about how we treat the Broncos because, if they don't get their own way, their owner, Rupert Murdoch, will get all butthurt and leave and start his own league.

Actually his tackling in this game is a high point in his defensive career. (and I can't believe I just said that, without any attempt or implication of sarcasm)

Marshall just denied a try here due to the obstruction rule.

Must be the Coriolis Effect because that try was allowed out here.

There was me thinking the Rabbitohs were the Man Utd of the NRL when it's the Broncos.

Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

Good to see Quinlan get a game for the Dragons, personally I think Saints should have kept him.

Aah, Wayne Bennett, the World's most ungracious loser.

"WAYNE Bennett has criticised Mal Meninga and John Grant for naming the Australian team a week early, saying it mentally drained his Broncos players ahead of their loss to Cronulla.

The Kangaroos broke from tradition to name their side last Tuesday, when they usually wait until that round’s games are completed before announcing the side.

While Bennett said the Sharks were the better team on the day, his felt his players “didn’t turn up” in the first half in part because they were thinking of Friday’s Test.

Brisbane had five players named in the Kangaroos side while four were on Sunday night named in the New Zealand team coached by Broncos assistant Stephen Kearney.

But the Kiwis team hadn't been named yet so those guys should have all played 10/10. What about Milford, Oates, Hunt and Reed? They already knew they wouldn't be playing next week? What's their excuse?

That is Mr Bennett for you.

Never been a gracious loser.

Talent is secondary to whether players are confident.
