Bolton currently, although I’ve moved and worked all around the north and travelled all around the world.

Ah. Hopefully the good people of Bolton don’t expect George Williams to be playing scrum-half against the All Blacks or whoever.

As I say, I think this is a common misconception outside traditional rugby league and rugby union areas amongst people who don’t generally follow sport.

I reckon if you did interviews in Bolton that viewpoint would crop up if they even knew who George Williams was.

In the UK maybe but there are plenty of Super Leagues in various sports and if you search elsewhere you will get one of these. That could be the Pakistan Super League, the Greek Super League etc. The term Super League is very non descriptive when used in isolation and could be referring to any sport.

I get all excited when the BBC starts on about "Super League", only to find out they are talking about soccer
