Where ?

If you say people of those genders can just play in the current set-up then why have separate men's and women's leagues ?

The leagues are based on the sexes, not the genders (although I don't subscribe to the idea that there are all these new genders, but that's another debate).

People can believe they are whatever gender they like, but if they want to play rugby league they either stick to one of the 2 sexes or create their own competition if there's enough interest. They have somewhere to play; whether they like it or find it acceptable to them is their choice.

(I have no idea how it came on to extra genders by the way - talk about argument of extremes!)

P&R has only been going for 1 season!!!!

The SL relegation battle & the Championship promotion battle are interesting and exciting, that will grow and grow season on season.

Scotchio goes on as though P&R has been about for plenty of time. It's not even had a chance to reveal it's true potential yet.

Championship coverage also began when there was P&R in 2007. It was the beginning of the Thursday night rugby slot.

Sky began to lose interest not long after franchising came about and Premier then picked it up.

So to imply there was more Championship on television because of franchising ignores the fact that there was weekly Championship rugby (or National League 1 back then) on Sky before it.

There are loads of ways this can be presented/spun.

TWP games were shown on TV when they were in the Championships, now they are in SL Sky won't be showing them. And Sky also won't be showing Catalans. So all the loss of coverage is down to SL.

Of course that would be dishonest and missing context, but that seems to be fine here.

We could also acknowledge that the removal of licensing coincided with the largest TV deal in history and more games televised than ever. But again, that would be lacking context.

Aye. "Made your excuses and left" ... a likely story.

Promotion and relegation has been in the league since 2014. We have had 6 seasons of it in a row.

No to mention the years prior to 2009 when we didnt have it.

Super 8's are you having a laugh. That was an overcomplicated, bolt on competition.

We have had 1 season of P&R, prior to that was a decade of no P&R.

Less, there was less championship RL before it.

And for 1 year.

But the argument hasnt been made that there was more lower league RL broadcast because of franchising.

The argument was that P+R was the reason the lower leagues were broadcast. An argument that is clearly wrong as more was broadcast without it.

So despite having teams promoted and relegated there was no promotion and relegation.

Not in the straight forward, traditional sense of P&R. That system dragged on the season, was uninspiring & hard to understand for a casual or newbie to the sport.

But there obviously was promotion and relegation, and it didn't drive interest.

And the years prior to franchising? When there was this exact model? We had that for years, why did we still have more championship RL broadcast when there wasnt P+R than when there was?

So would you pay the same to watch a women's Super League game as you would for a men's SL match ?

Who would of thought that as soon as Women's RL became loosely part of the conversation, you would appear 🤣

Super 8's was a small step in the right direction after the complete disaster of the closed shop.

Ways to consume the sport and generate interest have changed beyond belief in the last decade. Proper, pure, simple P&R is required to exploit new oppertunities rather than miss the boat yet again through a stale closed shop.

So then why arent sky screening more games. They have the opportunity. They could screen the ourleague games.

The idea that P+R has driven interest and value just isnt borne out by the results.
