Recommended Posts

Do appearances for these two clubs count separately or together.

Also the players who played for these teams have a heritage number from the original club ie Blackpool Borough or have do they have seperate heritage numbers

HI Clifford.  Appearances for clubs continue through various name / location changes.  What constitutes the continuation of the 'same' club is a debatable point (one I'm always happy to discuss!  But perhaps for another thread 🙂 )

In relation to HNs, that is up to an individual club to decide.  I believe York for example have two sets of numbers - one covering all players back to 1901, one starting with the re-formed club in 2003 (though I'm not sure if they've published both/either/neither).

I know that Blackpool Borough's numbers have been generated, and that if it were for C-19 they would have been published by now, but the event to launch these was unfortunately postponed, and I haven't heard what they plan to do.  These only cover the BB era AFAIK.

At the RKC we will be generating 'Club Numbers' (or Rep/Cap numbers for representative/international teams) that will be a dynamic, consistently calculated equivalent of HNs; there are a number of differences in the way that clubs have generated these, and as errors are spotted, and players added/removed these are dealt with differently too, but usually result in wrong numbers not being restated, which is entirely understandable.  The Club Numbers will be continuous in so far as the club is considered a continuation of an earlier guise.

HTH.

Neil

I am trying to locate information on Blackpool Gladiators when they played at the  Mechanics FC Ground. I played and assisted Maurice Banford and continued after he  had departed.   Any links or info  would be  most welcome

Is that right, Mark ?

Sheffield played their first post-takeover fixture at Victory Park on 28 Dec 1999.

(Yes, I know it's over a year since you posted it but I've only just seen it.)

No, it's not right. They moved back to Victory Park in 1999.
