Wolford6 Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Hall and Dobson are bizarre choices and you get the feeling they were thrown in desperately to cover up the dearth of talent in Yorkshire. However, Danny McGuire would have been a fair pick. I think you may be overlooking the inconvenient fact that there are two Yorkshiremen in the Australian Dream Team. Guest Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 I think you may be overlooking the inconvenient fact that there are two Yorkshiremen in the Australian Dream Team. The Australian 'Dream Team' you refer to was just a newspaper's team of the year. The official Dally M awards are announced this morning. Although I expect Gareth Ellis must be a good bet for the second rower of the year.
Hannibal Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Now let's compare with the Sun Herald NRL Dream Team: http://www.smh.com.au/photogallery/rugby-l...0904-14v1l.html 1. Josh Dugan. 2. Michael Gordon 3. Shaun Kenny-Dowell 4. Israel Folau 5. Akuila Uate 6. Todd Carney 7. Scott Prince 8. Michael Weyman 9. Isaac Luke 10. Petero Civinoceva 11. Sam Burgess 12. Sam Thaiday 13. Luke Lewis 14. Tom Learoyd-Lahrs 15 Gareth Ellis 16. Nate Myles 17. Cooper Cronk Tell you what, let's not bother. If you want to discuss it with someone, then post it on teh Australian RL forum, and see if anyone takes you up on the offer. You are now, officially, the most boring poster ever to frequent these forums.

RP London Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 You'll need a newspaper article claiming such a fact before you can claim this as your own revelation... With regards to the dream team.. Jones Bishop would have been a fine shout without the injury i think.. and agree wellens shows we have an issue there.. the fact our full back could come of the reserve grade in aus is a worry.. why arent we producing full backs??
no13benny Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 ^To be fair, they could have named Sam Tomkins at full back tho. Super League, Championship, the play-offs, Challenge Cup, and World Cup. Http://www.freewebs.com/sltipping
no13benny Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 (edited) My team would've looked like this: (Mind you, without a starter I would've struggled) JP's injury has kept him out. My 2010 Engage Super League Dream Team: Sam Tomkins (Wigan); Pat Richards (Wigan), Matt King (Warrington), Ryan Atkins (Warrington), Tom Briscoe (Hull FC); Danny McGuire (Leeds), Michael Dobson (Hull KR); James Graham (St Helens), James Roby (St Helens), Adrian Morley (Warrington), Ben Westwood (Warrington), Joel Tomkins (Wigan), Sean O'Loughlin (Wigan). Interesting that you pick King and Atkins in the centres, as tbh, before his injury Bridge was our best centre IMHO! King has been excellent there since he took over from Bridge though, although I do still believe that having a 6 like Briers must be a dream for a right centre.

giwildgo Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Hall is a poor choice for me - I'd have had Tom Briscoe. I'll also be surprised if Atkins didn't run Senior close and I'd have ditched Wellens, moved S Tomkins to FB and then been happy with one of McGuire, Chase, Briers or Pryce at 6. Otherwise the team is ok. oderint dum metuant

Hannibal Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Nice to see Joel in there, as he deserves it this year. Let's see if Macnamara picks him for the 4N now, or wether he will stick with Langley. Both of these players were on the pitch at the DW last Friday night. One of them is a good player, the other one isn't.

I'll stick up for Langley, he does his job at Bradford very well, however, I don't think there is call for his defensive workhorse nature in the international team. The series is too short for that kind of player.
hindle xiii Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 My only gripe with the Dream Team is, most of the time it's the 'Dream Team of the last third of the season'. I've said before, the majority are fully deserved but a lot of it is end of season form.
