Hull FC and Hull KR to merge...

02 July 2015 - 11:38 AM

...their academy sides.

"What's going on?" asked one diehard Hull FC fan, "I'll never support this new team" commented a lifelong Robins' supporter.

"I told you so" remarked another local RL fan who said he didn't support either team but was "delighted to see common sense prevail" ,although he wouldn't give his name he just wanted to leave the rather cryptic initials DSK to keep people guessing.

The second of the two rearranged fixtures due to these teams earlier cup commitments.

This is an intriguing fixture as the two teams meet up again at Hull's KC stadium on Sunday. Brian Smith will now be very familiar with the Wakey squad and will no doubt be desperate to get one over his former club. I would have said a couple of weeks back that Hull should take all four points from the two games but, with a new found belief and one or two new signings, Wakey will certainly be at least a match if Hull perform like they did vs Leeds in the cup last Friday.

Still, I'm ever hopeful that Hull should just have too much and will win this one but with Sneyd's continued absence, it's likely to be rather close.

One of two rearranged fixtures due to earlier cup commitments for these two.

Rovers on a high at the mo, having qualified for a RL Cup semi against Wire in the not too distant future. And they're also playing well at the mo, in spite of what certain folk might suggest. Salford really could do with the points tonight but I think they'll come up short.

Danny Maguire

I have to confess, before last Sunday's game between Leeds and Hull, I wasn't Maguire's biggest fan. I thought he was one of those players who constantly tried to put pressure on officials by either play acting or continuously giving verbals to them in order to gain his team an unfair advantage.

In spite of this, after Sneyd's tackle last weekend, although I don't think any malice was intended, I actually felt a fair bit for Maguire after hearing that his season may be over after an ankle break.

Reading his Twitter feed, he said that he was looking forward not backward and was very protective of his ankle that was damaged because he'd injured it before. At the time, I thought that was an odd thing to say, if you've received a serious injury from possible foul play surely you don't need to explain yourself.

It now seems he's in the Leeds' squad for tomorrow night's game.

So. I have to ask myself, has Maguire's play acting gone too far this time? Has he also kidded Brian Macdermott into an after game rant that was about an innocuous tackle that, although looking dangerous, actually did little if any damage at all?

Shannon McDonnell injury curse strikes again.

Out for the rest of the season

This bloke has had awful luck with injuries, his club Saints also. Hope he recovers fully and can get a complete season under his belt soon.
