The Stadium Management Company (SMC) at the KC Stadium are seemingly introducing unmanned turnstiles for Hull FC match days without consulting the club itself. The SMC are also apparently putting beer prices up without consultation with Hull FC for their home games.
Hull FC have issued separate statements which read as follows:
The club have released the following statement after being inundated with feedback from supporters and media on the Stadium Management Company's decision to introduce man-less turnstiles for Hull FC match days.
The club would like to stress that this was not a Hull FC decision and not one we actively support, but we must work with the Stadium Management Company's ground team to ensure the process and transition is as smooth as possible to ensure our fans are not affected.
We have made it known to the Stadium Management Company that this policy will be difficult for all rugby fans attending games at the KC Stadium.
We are aware of the effect this could have on our supporters, away fans and our overarching strategy to improve attendances, the match day experience and fan engagement at the KC Stadium, as we look to build a successful team on the field.
However, this will only focus us to work even harder to improve all these areas and come up with solutions to address the repercussions of this decision by the Stadium Management Company.
We will be announcing our new match day ticket pricing structure shortly which will include a reduction in price for those who buy a ticket in advance, hopefully easing congestion on a match day.
We have also enquired to the Stadium Management Company to ask for the permission to use the kiosks outside the stadium in which we will provide and finance our own staff to sell unreserved tickets before a game.
We also hope to adopt a similar strategy outside the North Stand so we can also make entry to the stadium as easy as possible for away supporters after a long journey to Hull.
The club are strongly advising supporters to buy their tickets in advance for the next few matches and arrive earlier than normal at the turnstile as everyone gets used to the new entry system, hopefully limiting the effect it will have on Hull FC match days.
We would like to thank all our supporters for their understanding of the matter and their ongoing support of the club.
We are Hull & Proud.
Hull FC would like to advise supporters that beer prices may be set to increase on Hull FC match days at the KC Stadium after feedback from SMC.
The club received verbal confirmation this week from Dan Coulson, who represents the catering division of the stadium, that beer prices would increase when Hull FC play at home.
As yet, the club are yet to receive any detail of this in writing from the SMC and hope to work with them to find a resolution to this matter, ensuring that parity remains in the pricing of match day drinks between Hull FC matches and other events at the stadium including Hull City match days.
It is standard club policy not to comment on such matters, however, with our first home game of the season taking place this Sunday and questions being raised from supporters, we felt moved to inform fans in case prices were raised for this match without us being able to notify them.
We feel an increase in the price of beer for our supporters is unacceptable, but hope to work closely with SMC to determine the rationale behind this decision and hopefully find a suitable resolution.
With regard the turnstiles, hopefully this can only improve spectator access once everybody gets used to it but a bit of discussion between the SMC and Hull FC would have been nice.
As for the "beer", well if you drink that stuff you don't deserve much sympathy, tbh.
What does everyone think? Is this really the Hull Tigers owned SMC riding roughshod over Hull FC or have Hull FC used this as an opportunity to instill bad feelings amongst their supporters towards the SMC?, although what exactly the latter would achieve I don't know.
It's common knowledge that there is no love lost between the Allams and Adam Pearson, I'm curious to know who's using this situation to score points, if anybody.
