#3260028 "Craft" beer - am I missing the point?

Posted by High Peak Rhino on 20 January 2016 - 02:17 PM

I am a big beer fan and will always try something different, often to the detriment of what I know I will like.

Boundaries are being pushed by many and the many varieties of beer styles from around the world are being tinkered with.

I'm all for it but can just as easily understand those who want the comfort of the tried and tested.

Locally to me a couple of years ago it was mediocre Robinsons beers and little else. Now our town of 10,000 has two breweries, one more traditional, the other run by three guys who want to push the boundaries.

They had a stall at the town Christmas lights switch with bottle sales and small free samples. Bottles were flying out and the locals were trying (and loving) barley wine, smoked stout, american wheat ales. If you don't try you will never know...

Would be good if they were able to loan in some guest players to make it interesting as without Watkins, Hardaker, Hall, JP, Sinfield, Leulai it will be a bit one way you'd imagine.

I did think this fixture sounded good when announced but maybe they'd have been better looking at alternate options. Although not many other games would deliver 10k+ crowd.

Not sure this was who you were thinking of but at least one loan in...

I've not got figures but am just going off press releases for retirements from either code. You don't get 37 year olds like Peacock, Morley and Leuluai running about at the top of union game. There also seem to be a lot of union players retire younger these days due to injuries

No actual *named* recommendations of pubs though, I note.

The Fat Cat is the best beer pub in Norwich.

I think we could do worse than put Jermaine in the England squad.

Is that the same Jermaine that the Daily Star reported on...

I'm such a sadcase I've still got all my sql achievements in my sig. I won the big one three times and think I got to a fair few of the finals so pretty chuffed. Just found the certificate I got for winning in 2005. Will try and upload a pic.

I only started winning SQL when I started marking. Too many penalties off MIAG before  :D

I've got a new mobile phone. It's an LG G3. I'm rather pleased with it so far.

That is all.

 Likewise - very good value.

Didn't see that coming :(

One final big payday for him.

Great servant for Leeds.

It is a very exciting time to be a beer drinker these days.
Just need CAMRA to accept the impact "craft" beer has had on getting younger drinkers interested in the good stuff.
