So which of our young signed players are we talking about in all this patter? We signed Sam Forrester - he plays regular. We signed Steve Scholey - he has had a number of games and been in the squad quite a lot. We signed young Thee Ritson - he has played a couple of times or so but the concensus of opinion after his last game was that he was not quite ready for the Chhampionship because of his young age. We signed Scott Akehurst - the lad has had a rough time with injuries and a similar story with Jamie Duerden.
So where are these players that snoopdog and Townie123 talk about? As I've said before if we were getting 1500 to 2000 through the gates every home match maybe we could afford to splash out a bit and sign all the best locals. The bottom line is that we don't have a pot of gold hidden at Zebra Claims Stadium and we have to make the best of a bad deal with DR and loans to cover our shortfall of cash.
agreed Keith and As it stands I wouldn't blame the coach if he used the full DR quota too as some players need to step their game up a bit.
and there is some pennies to spend and there is the pedigree of players needed waiting by the phone. It's allright criticising DR and I agree it isn't ideal but a quick serious solution isn't there so better the devil you know
I went for 32-16 on the basis they have no go forward at all and They wouldn't give their backs any platform to work off at all but saying that there is very little life or zip at 6,7 & 9 in that haven team and that's pretty much what happened. I feel guilty that I even said they would get 16 now as our defence was superb.
you always have a reason why haven did well and its never they actully played well, you need to look at your own results you have beaten a team who as of tonight have been beaten in every league game this season
we got closer to dews away than you did at home
played well at bradford
but none of this according to you is because we played well.
my predictions is by the end of easter both teams will have 4 points and given you all said we had a much tougher start and would be lucky to get any points before easter then ill take that thanks
yeah ok thanks for that alan. So you expecting a haven defeat on Friday then? Then a win against donny? Thing is donny seem to be struggling most but they didn't look that bad at DP.
I get what T123 is saying and agree with part of it. But maybe you can answer this.Firstly we are close to the salary cap now so how are we supposed to run a big enough and good enough squad without the benefit of DR? To get players good enough to compete in this league you either need big attendances ( we haven't got this) or a wealthy sugar daddy ( not got this either) It is all well and good all this idealism about our own players and magically produce a top drawer 6 & 13 to help Carl out but where do they come from? Everyone twines about loads of travellers, Wigan DR is the new evil, the're aren't any locally, and now because there was a few knock backs in recruitment pre season we are still waiting for clearance on one player and you have beat the board with that stick for months. So what's the solution T123? You have told everyone on here numerous times how you predicted a crisis so maybe you can save the day and tell Phil and the BOD what to do next.
By the way - there is no need to panic!
good post and that's all I want him to do, give us a realistic solution.if we are ill prepared and DR causes instability then that's his opinion but write an essay on the solution and not one on the same things.
and a good few things Wigan & Warrington ; - although I'm sure the only place I said the lad would want to be is in a Widnes shirt . Someone please send me a link to their forum so I can have a gander. Dec will give his all no matter where and his dad will kill me if he see this -
wonderofwood i think it's safe to say you won't be getting a Christmas card of the haven fans lol
They switched Carter to the other wing for the second half and still Squires scored down their right flank. On this showing from Workington we should encounter few problems, BUT (there's always one!) according to their supporters, they play expansive rugby at home; saw none of that today.
I thought Stokes favoured Batley (or perhaps their misdemeanours were seen in a different light); he sin binned Oldstrum (I think it was he) for something that was not that bad, but he failed to see the head high tackle on the Worky player which put that lad out of the game with the Batley player substituted immediately after the offence.
The attendance given in Sporting Life astounds me. It says 1200 were there; I would reckon half that at best!
In fairness to Batley, they took their chances well with Squires outstanding and scoring three tries uphill, albeit from a short distance. The first was from a kick and chase; he grabbed the ball in the air while the Worky full back wad waiting gor it to sit in his arms. The second was from his own kick and collect (it was good) and the third, he stopped close to the touch line, the Town winger held off and Squires then carried on. His fourth was in the dim and distant far Gornergat from nowhere I was standing.
who said we play expansive rugby at DP? Our pitch size means expansive RL is difficult. It's more the size for forward battles and we have assembled a big pack as batley fans have commented from sunday and two forward debutants to come in this sunday from Oz and wires. No easy games in this league and if we are to win on sunday it will be down the middle. Safe journey up.
