  1. Develop a set of principles that best support the values of sound business and the ethos of Rugby League and then place only the strongest sanctions against those who flaunt them.
  2. Because each of these impact greatly on my enjoyment of the game. It might be a personal thing, but I'd guess I'm not alone, and that's the problem. It doesn't stop me watching Batley and Catalans, or hoping Toronto do brilliantly well, but for the first time in 18 years, I may not bother with the CC FINAL or the Grand Final. As for Magic Weekend, it will possibly be the first weekend I don't attend too. Again, I'm not alone, and I'm a steadfast promoter of the game. The RFLs decisions have alienated me, and others who they have relied on for years. Maybe I'm no longer their target audience.
  3. I would, but it's not the positives you'd be enjoying reading I'm afraid. Many of my issues have been addressed at great length in other forums, but if you want me to describe in particular where the RFL fall woefully short, here I go: 1. Marketing, especially of the national team 2. Pricing for family and child tickets at major events (no concessions in some areas, significant increase in family ticket prices, allowing boozed up none-family parties to buy tickets in family areas) 3. Late promos that no longer make buying tickets equitable 4. Bradford Bulls reinstated to Championship under seemingly new rules 5. Application of the 'Fit and proper person' after the forming of associated 'important factors' I'd go on but my memory only recalls the last few months.
  4. In my experience, In an organisation, 80 or 90% of the mood/atmosphere is generated as a direct influence of what eminates from the boardroom/head office. Whilst I think we all get Oxford's point about the ease of finding negatives in the game, many have been left so disenfranchised by the RFL that this is no surprise to me whatsoever. I fight passionately for the success of Rugby League, but quite frankly, I'm losing interest quickly, as a result of the way the game is managed at the 'top' level. I never, ever thought I'd hear myself say this.
  5. Yes, Oxford, I naturally assumed you weren't tarring everyone with the same brush, my point being that some (but clearly not all) of their issues would appear valid, even though they don't pass your points test.
  6. A word of warning; if you're putting in a low bid for a house that has been on the market for some length of time, whilst you are immediately benefiting from the reduced price, you should consider the reasons why the house has been for sale for so long. Possibilities might include; already over-priced, requires too much work, in a less than desirable area etc. Some of these issues you may be able to rememdy, others will be the same when you come to sell.
  7. I've done all of these things and continue to be a strong, positive voice for the promotion of the game, especially through expansionism. On the quality and impact of the RFL management, I feel very strongly that they are not up to the job. Hopefully, that opinion can be respected.
  8. I'm asking for a friend, but how do you start a vote of no confidence in the RFL management and would anyone be likely to support it?
  9. Spy in the wild, BBC1 - fascinating wildlife programme where robotic animals are sent into habitats to film undercover, from within. The penguin bit..... flippin' hilarious!
  10. Really well summed up Jeff. He was an extremely passionate, loyal and trustworthy custodian of a number of teams and these characteristics appear to be in short supply these days. In latter years, I always found him to be an interesting and insightful summariser on the telly/wireless. RIP.
  11. Victor Lownes, 'Long-standing' Playboy director/executive, 88. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-38586226
  12. It's an often held view that one must experience significant downs in order to truest enjoy the high points in life. These things tend to work in cycles and I hope everyone can enjoy much about 2017.
  13. Very sorry to hear that Bearman.
  14. 3.17pm - No deaths so far.
  15. I've appeared on one of his albums. It was one of the best experiences of my professional life. I love his music. Working with Ruby Turner and Beverley Knight was superb! I'm unapologetically biased. Happy New Year one and all.
