  1. I don't think we get many catchers tackled in the air do we? I think Connor loves to do it when he jumps for a bomb, he'll deliberately stick his leg up to make sure chasers don't get too close or they'll hit his studs. It's dangerous.
  2. It is still a 7 tackle set, rather than 6 as they start at zero rather than 1. But
  3. I am not sure how much "rehearsing" they need to do.. Of course they aren't the same team of the 1990s, LB are currently spending probably less than half of the salary cap. It's a Championship team playing in SL.
  4. I think the NRL has decided to have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to chasers touching the kicking leg when putting the pressure on. It seemed to start at the same time they gave a penalty in the last minute to NZ Warriors (or the team playing them, I can't recall) for them to level the match before Golden Point a few weeks ago.
  5. I have always thought that the 7 tackle set should be when the kicker kicks the ball dead from outside the 40m line. If it is a short grubber within the 20m zone, I don't think it should be a 7 tackle set, and be a usual 6 tackle set. I always remember a game years ago at the Stoop when Chad Randall for (probably) Harlequins kept intentionally kicking the ball dead for a 20m restart because it allowed us to set our defensive line. Although it helped us win the game, it wasn't very exciting to watch.
  6. Yup, I always enjoyed getting to the games a little earlier to watch the second half of the Academy matches and see who was coming through.
  7. What are you talking about. How anyone could come to the conclusion that there isn't enough players in London as a reason for it to fail is seriously misreading the situation. As someone else said - I don't think the RFL have ever put "some money towards it" - It has been sports england grants and the good will of volunteers/Broncos/Skolars. You don't think SL needs a team in London, sure. But again, what resources are SL putting into London that can be put to better use elsewhere? This year, I can say with absolute certainly that number is £0. The RFL haven't put any time or money into this "project". I don't even know why I am responding to a post that still thinks in 2024 that London Broncos is a "pet project" of the RFL that they absolutely love and have poured all their money and time into. I feel like I am in the 2000's again with this ignorance.
  8. GF cant be moved anywhere else until OT is shut down for it's rebuilt/refit whatever they do in the end. You can't move the GF out of the North, and no other stadiums in the North have the capacity that is needed.
  9. I feel like Hull are in a tough situation with Houghton. He is a player that has been at the club for, I believe the comms team said 18 years.. He is a fan favourite, a club legend.. etc. And he is a good player - But he has been there throughout all of this, as what I would call a club captain (I am not sure if he is "offically" captain). I honestly think Hull will be better when he retires and they are able to start fresh. Hull have gone through numerous coaches over the last however many years, but Houghton has always been there, I don't think he is the one creating a "bad culture" necessarily, but he doesn't seem to have ever been the one to be able to motivate his teammates, whether that be in game or in training it seems. Hooker is such an important position in todays game, and as he has got older his threat has been less and less, I want to say any other "big" club would have brought in a new hooker by now, but Wigan stuck with Powell for years.
  10. I mean sure.. I found it entertaining as a London fan. Lots of other people mentioned that London played a good game. It wasn't exactly 1 man up rugby, London passed the ball well and offloaded well. You do you.
  11. Bit of an OTT post, no BB? I don't even understand how people are saying London are getting worse either, we are finally getting some of our injured players back and are playing better now I would say.
  12. This post makes it sound like London and Hull played equally poor. I have no idea how you would come to that conclusion.
  13. It's a sport that is relatively new, so there are still lots of players that are very raw. The longer they all play, the more juniors get involved in it, then the standard raises. It doesn't happen overnight. Apparently for Huddersfield, the crowd that come to watch the womens RL have no interest in watching the men's team, so not sure it matters much for them. I can't imagine it costs a huge amount more to open the stadium a few hours earlier and pay those staffing costs, etc.
  14. I wouldn't say that London RL is dead, or even that the Broncos brand is completely dead. It's just that the Broncos have zero money so they lose every week, no new fan is going to come and watch that every other week. The first game of the season had 5k which is pretty decent considering our crowds for the last few seasons. London need a winning side, with marketing and then crowds will be drawn and more of a fanbase can be built upon. SL or the NRL should have eyes on London RL juniors - There is so much untapped talent in London, they have seen KPP who is turning in great performances in the NRL, and we had another London product previously over there.
