It wasn’t the most blatant knock on. 99% of people watching didn’t see it in real time etc. The Captain’s Challenge wouldn’t have impacted the decision as you can’t go back past the PTB just like the current VR. A player could shout and rant as much as they like but there are much more likely to end up in the bin than any change to the decision Also the Captain’s Challenge relies on the game stopping for a referee’s decision so you can’t just challenge when it’s a “play on”.

Hall has suffered from a lack of playing time. I know there were reasons for last season but he has been crowded out this time around. Fortunately he is young enough to develop if he gets a run of games under his belt
-
That’s been part of his problem. He’s played at 1, 3, 4 & 6 (no doubt with a spell on the wing thrown in) which can’t be easy for someone trying to establish himself in a team. He looks like a promising centre but needs a decent run in one position

I suppose it’s how you define inflated contract. Is it high compared to the Championship but middling at best in SL? Also wasn’t he released early by Warrington? If so there may have been some sort of pay off involved with his current contract being average.

The issue this season has been the inexperience of the TV crews with incorrect or poor cameras being chosen for the replay(s) despite, in some instances, the VR requesting the correct camera. I was aware of the Notts Forest reference being ironic but it does show how poorly some can react to a decision or decisions even when they are correct
-
I just don’t think it adds anything and is a bit of a long winded talking shop or committee meeting
-
The show bit or the incorrect decisions? Currently the decisions made by the VR in RL are correct in the vast majority of cases especially if you understand the protocols around the process. The introduction by Sky of hearing the VR does assist even if we do have to listen to Ben Thaler clearly having a nice relaxing evening on his sofa with some Pringles and a few cans of Pepsi
-
They only “agonise” because those decisions are the highly marginal ones which by definition need more viewings from a larger number of angles. I’d happily get rid of the VR just like you suggest but wait for the first marginal try awarded or not awarded and the game would go into meltdown with some players, coaches & owners doing a “Notts Forest” style rant
-
I 100% agree. It’s all for show and whilst it may add some drama that’s only because there is so little drama on the field. They also very regularly get decisions incorrect
-
The Captain’s Challenge was far from a great success in the WC with a number of challenges showing the players up as either trying it on or not knowing the laws of the game. Also don’t forget the frivolous challenges to get a breather. If you get upset about running the stop clock down or deliberately conceding 6 agains then just wait for the clearly frivolous Captain’s Challenges

Is it transfer deadline day? This must be the busiest week of the year

I know the referees societies will be working hard to share that information via training sessions etc but at an amateur level you are dependant upon referees attending meetings especially those who are more set in their ways

No they would also get the correction wrong
