I hate Rugby League
DI Keith Fowler replied to The 4 of Us's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Well there's a board and Chairman above him, but they're not especially monied up and don't want to deal in the day to day running of the club so he's been brought in as a bit of a one man band. -
I hate Rugby League

I was willing to give him a chance when he came in but it looks like everything Oldham fans were saying about him was correct. I think the only positive thing which has happened was the profit sharing deal with the council over drinks and the fanzone being set up. But I understand these bring in a relative pittance. In the negative column, despite promises the playing budget wouldn't be cut we've got a worse and no doubt cheaper squad than last year who look more likely to be relegated than make the play offs. Social media and marketing has gone from being one of the best in the division to one of the worst, no doubt due to budget cuts. Bluntly I think he's doing all the rudimentary/off brand graphics himself as well as penning all the social media posts. The writing style is way off the mark combined with spelling and grammatical errors. Sponsorship we now have a literal bailiffs as main sponsor, and we've moved to a less premium kit manufacturer with all that entails (all the merch is plain with iron on badges). And as you can see the fanbase is being alienated by bizarre Linkedin posts. Not forgetting the misspelling of the town motto on the new shirt to no acknowledgement with the mistake continually replicated on social media graphics. Mistakes get made but it's gotten to the point where I can only assume that the lack of apology or correction is out of stubbornness. I've spoken to a lot of people who haven't renewed their season ticket this year, and the mood around the club is as low as I can remember. It wouldn't be fair to say this is all strictly down to him, as I think he was brought it to cut costs by a board that don't have the resources to maintain the club at the previous level, but at the very least it'd be good not to have to hear the guy moan about how unappreciated he in doing this. -
New Partnership - ABK Beer

It's one of my favourite beers (along with a dozen or so other German ones but still). If anyone is near a Booths you can pick it up in there. -

They fear the mirror in Yorkshire. The other you who lives in the glass world. You can tell this by the hair. -

Very sad, enjoyed reading this about his turn in arrested development. -
You can't just leave, this forum is like the island on Lost.

Have we got a RL Joey Barton ?
DI Keith Fowler replied to Chrispmartha's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
In terms of Davies I was very much of this opinion until a couple of years ago, his analysis was always very superficial but I think he's gotten a lot better recently in calling games. Don't know if anyone else is of the same opinion. I like Carney as an anchorman, he's no Bob Wilson. -
SuperLeague+ Streaming Platform Launch

You don't! Don't pay twice. -
Absolute banter move would be if Liverpool are in with the shot of the title on final day to give the match to Paul Tierney.

SuperLeague+ Streaming Platform Launch

If it gets close to the start of the the season and the Fire app isn't available I'm sure someone will be kind enough to upload the Android TV compatible .apk file so it can be sideloaded onto your device. -
SuperLeague+ Streaming Platform Launch
DI Keith Fowler replied to Wellsy4HullFC's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
If you have Sky Sports through Now TV you'll be able to get every game anyway, so you won't need Superleague+ at all. -
I think there was an opportunity missed with the move to Wimbledon to re-adopt these colours instead of the Fulham colours. With the yellow and blue they're only really deviating with the red to get to the Wimbledon colours represented in the seats at the ground. It would make them look a bit more like they belong there and it being their ground too.

A new look for Super League
DI Keith Fowler replied to Chrispmartha's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Yeah I agree with the colours chosen, not so sure. Happy though with the general refresh of it all, there was talk of a complete rebrand but I think it would have been wasted money. The last rebranding exercise in the Elstone period was to be fair pretty good, one of the few highlights. -
It is sometimes the case that a few things are at play.

My immediate thought as well. Ought to reduce the number of 20m x 20m sprint collisions. It's a gimme. They can play it as an entertainment move whilst simultaneously using it as evidence of measures taken (in any future litigation) without people moaning "the game's gone".

That's my interpretation too based on the quotes from Rhodri Jones, I think Matt Shaw has got it wrong in the article SL+ gives you the four games that aren't on Sky each week. If you want every game you have to go with Sky still which makes sense from Sky's perspective otherwise they'd be completely undermining themselves. It's essentially the same as Premiership Rugby TV which started last season IIRC, except they don't show their ITV games but here it sounds like you will get our BBC games. It all feels really positive anyway, I'll certainly buy a season pass as I don't have Sky and either watch the Sky games in the pub or on a jarg streaming service.

Been taking an off season break had a bit of stuff to deal with, but this has raised me from my slumber like nothing else could. So firstly the town crest issue, someone did a vector of the crest a few years back which the club have used from time to time but it's always been small enough for no one to notice the error. Blowing it up and using it as the watermark style design on the front of the shirt has drawn attention to it. The correct spelling of the town motto Industria Ditat (Industry Enriches) is present on every single pre-1996 piece of memorabilia the club has in it's possession so as you say not excusable. They could have cross referenced with any of the shirts in the glass cases at the stadium but that feels like a level of due diligence we can't expect from the current Ops Manager. Onto my more general complaints. The shirt is apparently a nod to the anniversary of our last Challenge Cup Win, but they couldn't do anything to reference that in the design because that was an Adidas kit and use of the three stripes is controlled. Also the crest is fully gold which makes it look like the Whitehaven badge. In any case this isn't an anniversary many fans have in their diary and it's a bit left field to be honest unlike the WCC ones that have been done. Also, it looks like a Widnes Football Club kit, who play in the Unibond Alehouses and Police Custody North division. Finally, the sponsor, a bailiff famous from the TV show Can't Pay? We'll Take it Away is somehow one of the lesser crimes in this whole debacle.

Weird one that. I thought Wigan had a rotation in place where they do a slightly mad kit then a traditional one the following year? They've essentially had two in a row from the former category that can be described as disrupted hoops.
-
I think you could get 30k+ in London for this match with the right lead in and marketing. Wigan are still a big name with casual sports fans and there's a begrudging respect for the NRL from RU fans in London who would be intrigued to see a team in the flesh. But with the initial outlay and risk associated it's going to be a non-starter unfortunately.

There'll be a Time Crisis machine in Batley taking an absolute battering tonight.

I think we need specifics. Are we talking Pac Man here or Crash Bandicoot?
