So who is available for Emerging Nations in WC?

I saw a article on Hayne the other day where he was keen to play for Fiji at the end of the year suggesting Australia has too much depth in the centres for himself in current form, and was thinking if he could feed Vunivalu and Uate that, that was a lot of strike power. Then of course the are the Sims Brothers and a lot of other NRL players. I was wondering if Semi Radradra was going to be in French Rugby at that time. Quite a beast backline if he was in it.

Has anyone heard of any other high quality players that are keen to represent other nations other then the big 3 atm?

By definition the emerging nations are playing in the emerging nations tournament next year. Let's call these sides tier 2 nations as that's how they are categorised by the RLIF for eligibility purposes.

The best way to answer the question as far as NRL players who might appear would be to link to Brad Walter's article  listing possible WC players by club. Happy reading. As for SL players they're probably fairly predictable.

It's  a good article but says alot about international RL that up to 210 out of 350 players at a WC all play in the NRL....

So many nations seem like a afterthought to making the Oz team.... Surely the decision on who to play for should be made at least 6 months ahead and then a 2 month training camp before the WC.

Hate to say it but RL WC could learn a bit from Union...ie fund the lesser nations in advanced so they can put out better teams.

Hopefully that will start happening, IIRC the 2013 World Cup put something like £2 million into the RLIF coffers hopefully the 2017 will put more than that in and more again in 2021 then we might be getting somewhere

100% League 0% Union

Just because I don't know doesn't mean I don't understand

The NRL, RFL, etc. need to step in and regulate representative bonuses too.  Clubs should only be allowed to offer such bonuses if they do so to all players for all representative matches and at a standard percentage of the base contract amount for the year.  So (for example) if they want to offer Origin or Kangaroos players a 10% bonus, they should be compelled to offer that same 10% to players who play any International football for any RLIF member country.

The IRL has been doing this for years.

No. You can't equate a Cook Is jersey with an OZ, or NZ selection. Any regular NRL player who is eligible could walk into the Cook Is team.
