In fairness it's something the clubs have and will be looking at ahead of the 2021 season (as per here). A number of them are in the view that reducing the number of games would improve the quality. Getting those who can't see past immediately reduced gate receipts to agree might be challenging though

When you look at the structure of the two tournaments they ran it's not hard to understand why it failed miserably. Half assing things and dumping them when they don't immediately work out is the RL way though I guess

Quite. Although with it hooking in to negotiations for a new TV deal I wouldn't be so quick to rule it out
