It was a bit messy but looked clear cut to me.

Woods try? Loooooong deliberation.

Hw much longer bunker????

That was another instance where defenders were slow to react because they saw the ball hit the deck and expected a whistle.

In a lower-grade game it`s guaranteed the ref would have blown the whistle and called something. Because - "there had to be a knock-on in there somewhere". Away from the NRL where there isn`t video back-up, knock-on madness is harming the game.

Is there anyone NOT on report? It's going to take weeks to look at all these cases. If this is still a focus come World Cup then England will have watch out. That sin bin can fill up quickly.

Will this directive be fully applied in the same way in the Origin series?

The game is more stop than start and is not as good to watch.

Another high tackle/head bin/interchange/sin bin farce.

So a player could crawl the length of the field on his knees leading with his head and nobody would be allowed to tackle him?

Been listening to a bit of 2GB. Commentators are giving "H" the Dally M points.

To be fair, he's had a big game.

When I see all these replays at 30frames/sec I think about the old days - back in the 1950s, how many legitimate tries were actually scored? Any?

Same in cricket when they introduced video replays. People wondered whether it invalidated the record books.

And yet the good players of the past prospered. Good batsmen got runs, good bowlers got wickets.

There is literally no end to this in RL. Complete accuracy is unattainable. Why risk harming the game in a limitless, obsessive quest to satisfy people who will never be satisfied?

Fair play to Wayne Bennett for calling out the new interpretation on any tackle above the shoulder. He knows what favours Souths one week could kill them the next as happened to the North Queensland Cowboys when James Tedesco ducked into a nondescript attempt at tackling him which resulted in a North Queensland player being in the bin for 10 snuffing out their comeback.

Overall you would give that game to the Roosters though but their lack of goal kicking prowesss will come back to haunt them at some point. North Queensland could have been 24-0 down instead off 18-0 down and gone before the end of the first half. Missing your kicks does let sides back in the game and so it proved.

Magic Round with one day to go, magic enough?

Before it started it had to contend with some missing big names and good quality players to take a bit of a shine off it for some people:

Missing:

Kalyn Ponga

Mitchell Pearce

Cameron Munster

Harry Grant

Brandon Smith,

Dylan Brown

Shaun Johnson

Davif Fifita

Ash Taylor

 Addin Fonua-Blake

Cameron Murray,

Sam Verrills,

Zac Lomax,

Latrell Mitchell,

Joseph Tapine,

Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad,

Jordan Rapana,

Ryan Sutton,

Kurt Capewell,

Paul Momirovski,

Kotoni Staggs,

Jesse Ramien,

James Roberts,

Jeremy Marshall-King,

Josh Jackson

Lachlan Lewis

Brett Morris

... and probably Ryan Papenhuyzen

Then in a bid to reduce the number of people having to leave the field with head injuries, the directive to refs has seen many more players leaving the field either sent off or sin binned.

Then there's the draw for the round itself.

The biggest game Panthers v Titans? Not really any big clashes.

So how magic has the magic round really been?

Attendances:

Suncorp Stadium:

Friday's double header 41,367 (Allowed Capacity 50,000)

Saturday's triple header 45,115  (Allowed Capacity 50,000)

Sunday Previews:

Warriors v Eels

NZ Warriors again lack consistency this season. They come into this match on the back of a loss to Manly Sea Eagles last week. They face a toughie against Parra  who've only lost one game so far this season.

Eels are looking good in attack and defence and they'll probably be too good here.

There's likely to be another pile of points in this one.

Unavailable players:

Warriors: Addin Fonua-Blake (Injured), Eliesa Katoa (Injured), Peta Hiku (Injured), Paul Turner (Injured), Marcelo Montoya (Injured), David Fusitu’a (Injured)

Eels Will Smith (Injured), Dylan Brown (Suspended), Marata Niukore (Suspended)

All this forum's tipsters have gone for Eels to win.

Storm v Dragons

Melbourne produced a huge shock result last weekend when they beat South Sydney Rabbitohs in a ten-try romp. They nilled their opponents at the same time. In this game though they without some of their big names when they take on St. George Illawarra Dragons.

Storm have won their last six matches and look a real threat towards the top of the ladder.

The Dragons ended a three-match losing streak last week and could well fancy their chances against a weakened Storm line-up.

Storm usually perform well at Suncorp.

Most of our forum tipsters have stuck with a Storm win but 3/16 have gone for a Dragons win.

Unavailable Players:
Storm: Max King (Injured), Darryn Schonig (Injured), Brenko Lee (Injured), Brandon Smith (Suspended), Cameron Munster (Injured), Harry Grant (Injured)

Dragons: Jack de Belin (Suspended), Cameron McInnes (Injured), Jordan Pereira (Suspended), Zac Lomax (Injured), Mat Feagai (Injured), Brayden Wiliame (Injured)
