I'm not really connecting it to anything he's said, more just my dislike for the scrum in general. It's a relic of the past and should have been kept away after COVID.

Has anyone gone and looked back at why the differential penalty was brought in. That should give authorities a clue as to what will happen and what they need to mitigate against.

There were at least two tries directly from scrums in the weekend's Championship games, the opening tries by Halifax agaisnt Sheffield and Toulouse at Barrow.

In both instances the defences didn't react to which side would be overloaded and there was a straightforward overlap. But it again highlights how hard it is for defenses at scrums so close to the line.
