Anita Bath
Just noticed that Ex player and coach Charlie Birdsall passed away last month. Tough player who left it all on the field. Played at Wembley for Hull in the famous Hull derby final. Belated condolences to his family and friends.
ornit4ever
He certainly was a great player and coach at Hornets and was a tough competitor for sure. Didnt he have a pub in Milnrow for some time before moving back to Yorkshire? RIP to him and condolences to his family. RUGBY LEAGUE WITHOUT ROCHDALE HORNETS IS LIKE AN UNSHARPENED PENCIL, THERES NO POINT?

Tyrone Shoelaces
Charlie was a really class loose forward. I remember Hornets playing Keighley away in the Challenge Cup in the 1970’s. Hornets won comfortably but Charlie was outstanding for Keighley. I said to my mate “ That loose forward looks a good player, I wouldn’t mind signing him. “ About 2 or 3 weeks later we signed him. He always gave 100% and was a real grafter. Tganks for the memories Charlie, you were a good ‘un.

Probably too late now but given its keighley today would be nice if we could pay tribute to charlie before the game today.

Tyrone Shoelaces
Terrific second half performance from the lads today. I think we looked to be fitter than Keighley at the end. We seemed to be on the way to earning a last minute draw until that loose pass went to an opponent. Fair play to their lad for going the length of the field. Carry on like that and we should be in for a very interesting season. It was the converted try just before half time that did the damage. Incidentally both kickers did really well today. Neither of them looked like missing. Edited April 28 by Tyrone Shoelaces
Anita Bath
Yes, tries conceded in the last seconds of both halves did us. What a great performance to push the unbeaten league leaders so close.
