Technically, however it was a 'British' team. Jim sullivan, for example,  was Welsh. British and English were interchangeable at that time.

Hell of a tour back then ... 3 months / 27 games. 

And that's led me down a rabbit hole of looking at the results on there for the Victoria state team.

11 games, 1 win.

But there seems to have been a period in the mid 70s where there was a real desire for that team to exist and play games. Amazing how often a look at RL history is a pathway to finding out about more missed opportunities.

When Australia couldn't beat Great Britian in the ashes between 1920 and 1950, we should have stopped playing them and focused on making Lancashire vs. Yorkshire the pinnacle of Rugby League.
