#3046489 Happy 70th Birthday Town....and big news announced....

Posted by wonky on 17 December 2014 - 08:08 PM

Kain would have been ideal for us. In my opinion he is the kind of player we are lacking and would be one of the final pieces of the jigsaw.

our halfbacks already sorted will be here in the new year.

I've heard he's the one whos visa was accepted. Great signing, we definitely needed a big man to dominate up the middle

Probably confirmation that were with wigan again next year for definate. Can't see it being a signing and it's definitely not sam obst or josh vievers. Surely we don't need anymore outside backs signed on, we already have Forrester, murphy,Carter,Miller, aikhurst,Mossop, whitely, ritson and rossi.

People do realise it's only the middle of November. Why on earth are people panicking? We actually have a squad capable of competing already, now we just need to add the quality.

Why is anyone considering who should play loose for town. If his head is in it there's no better around than karl olstrum.

Nothing to do with Town but Brocklebank has signed for Haven tonight just been confirmed.

good signing for them. They've probably got the best amateur from the haven area whereas we've got the best (forrester) from our way. Brockelbanks signing might just be a year or 2 late but we'll see. Good to see both clubs signing local talent.

Too many mediocre players. Our 2nd row was dominated and neither farrell nor tomkins should be anywhere near international level. Charnley is poor, Watkins does very little and josh hodgson isn't in the top 5 hookers we have. I personally would have
G burgess
Whitehead (how he's not 1st choice is beyond me)

I think the backs are pretty well covered , no real need for a DR fullback unless something drastic happens , Murphy is here , Forrester and Ritson ..all capable of stepping up to the job in hand when called on and also Carter dont forget ...

i wouldn't have tierney or Hampshire to play full back. Someone of there quality, especially hampshires would solve our half back problem out.

#3011074 NRL final

Posted by wonky on 10 October 2014 - 12:29 PM

Just returned from a 3 week trip down under and it was amazing.

First up was Group 7 finals day at Wollongong (Equivalent of Cumbria League but the standard of Championship) saw a crowd of over 4,000 watch three games on the day (under 19 final, reserve final and grade 1 final).

Manly v Canterbury at the Allianz was an awesome game that went to golden point.
Souths v Roosters and Canterbury v Penrith both in the ANZ then of course that superb Grand Final.

GF day also was a triple header with Brisbane coming back from 34-6 down against a massive Warriors under 20's to miss a last minute kick to level the scores and ended up losing 34-32.
This was followed by Sam Obst (ex Jameater wasnt he ??)and Tyrone Mcarthy leading a Northern Pride (Cairns/ Queensland cup winner) to a win over Penrtih Panthers NWS Cup team in the Inter State Final.
All these games where shown live on TV

Also took in the semi final of the Asian Soccer Champions league semi final at Parramatta between West Sydney and FC Seoul and took in the Eels Leagues Club pre game.
NOW THAT IS SOMETHING ELSE ..bars...restaurants..corporate hospitality.and on level three hundreds of "Pokies" (gaming machines)..Millions of pounds turnover a year and a lot of it pumped back into the footy club.

Some of you guys may have been Down under to follow the England or Lions teams BUT to get the TRUE passion the NSW folk have for the game its a must to go and catch the NRL play offs....wall to wall coverage on TV and the press (despite West Sydney in the soccer semi final and Sydney Swans in the AFL final).

yeah but we all got to try the new hot dogs that Gregg's sell..... Beat that
