  1. They could be doing some things better but engaging the community game, doing stuff with schools, maintaining/improving season ticket numbers, boosting the women's team, and reaching out to Anzacs is not a bad off season at all compared to recent years. All whilst assembling a very good squad.
  2. Nice to win a match. Not much more can be said that hasn't already been said.
  3. To repeat: this series is breaking records for attendance and viewing figures *even now*. It shouldn't be ... but it is.
  4. This corrects some of my assumptions
  5. I think you're right here. Without the original football leaders tolerating (allowing is a bit much) and then being overwhelmed by professionalism then I don't see how the genuine global spread of soccer happens so easily and so quickly.
  6. And for all the terrible cricket: record attendances all the way.
  7. Thank you for keeping this place open and for your unwavering support of TGG. We don’t agree on a lot but all the best for Christmas, the New Year and whatever else. And to everyone else on here.

  9. Yes, his character is getting too smart. Couple of quite clever linguistic sleights on the past two pages. Can't maintain that he can't switch on the TV in his house and just knows what he knows from the lads in the pub if he keeps that up.
  10. That's fair but we are talking about a modest increase - to say, 14,000 - which very much should be sustainable given the foundations they've laid in terms of support and how they deliver the match day (it's not all about winning but winning helps). They could also, almost certainly, unlock statutory support for part of the cost as well.
  11. You really are strange.
  12. It's never been straightforward placings. The imbalance has also been significantly more pronounced in the past - up to c £400,000 at the top down to 1/6 that at the bottom. It was explained a few times on here that there were other metrics (far less transparent than gradings) that went into the actual figure tier 2 clubs received.
  13. As it should have been. It had four times the central funding.
  14. If you're looking for AFCON, then you'll need to locate some of the Channel 4 stations that no one knows exists. An escape for Egypt against Zimbabwe last night was on Four Seven. Anyway, this was also fun to be at: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cg4nd5xvrlzo
  15. It’s done it for the second tier for at least a decade.
