Better a few days after at Bramal lane eagles trashing the new world champs in front of over 8,500 fans . What a day that was invading pitch at end of match . How good was Jeff Hardy that day. Remember watching highlights that night as well on scrum down ( wish ITV 4 would show the old games like they do with footy ) Black box rite on time riding high in the charts what days.

#2961601 could fans run a club

Posted by superten on 19 July 2014 - 09:57 AM

Could fans run a club? help spread the game . I was interested in response Bradford got when in crisis . Lets say if something was set up to help run and fund a club like south wales scorpions for example ( Ive selected this team as there bottom of the league and based in an area where RL are desperate to get established) OK  so here goes as a member you pay a monthly fee say £20 for 12 months which equals £240 a year .Imagine if you could get 10,000 members world wide . In return as a member you would get a members pass to all home games ie season ticket . An exclusive members badge . Every home match day programme sent to you . A new shirt every season of your choice either home or away . A members monthly prize draw with cash prizes .Any other ideas ?

Could this be done ?

The SY duo are on the up Dons beating Rovers was a great result in front of Dons biggest league crowd in at least three seasons . The Eagles finally clicked into gear showing why they are back to back champions. The Easter Sunday derbie should be a great occasion and is to close to call. Seen on Keighley web site that ladies get in for free this Sunday well done to the Cougars. The challenge cup games in two weeks time are both on separate days the Eagles playing Saturday and the Dons Sunday both reasonably priced at ten pounds for adults so a great opportunity to get along to both matches . Eagles league average after two games stands at 902 while Dons after three matches stands at 904 would be great to see them both top a 1000 by the end of the season .

im not against the doctor in fact I think hes a breath of fresh air. Some of his ideas are good and he gets people talking about our sport. I just think Salford was the wrong club to buy . Wouldn't it have been great if he had put his money into the crusaders say and if he was serious about football he could have invested in Wrexham fc re build the three parts of the stadium take crusaders into super league and Wrexham back into the football league.

are rugby league planning anything to remember the beginning of WWI ? Just posted on the Celtic nation thread the idea of England playing a COMMONWEALTH XIII. Instead of playing the exiles or Celtics surely this would be a better option. A three match series get the military involved an international military competition . Could be a great way of  remembering  our fallen heroes.

just wondering what would happen if London went down this year and we bring in Toulouse as well . Then the year later catalan came down . HOW would clubs in the championship fund them away trips ? Plus imagine if then they all finished in the bottom 8 of the championship it would be a financial disaster.

#2849137 Salford Red Devils name change

Posted by superten on 08 December 2013 - 01:36 PM

think Salford should stay as Salford and the city should be proud of its team and the team proud of its city. True it would be great to have a team in Manchester playing under that name . I think swinton might be better relocating from leigh to play at the Manchester athletic stadium which I think holds 6,000 . Could call them Manchester blue lions to rival Salford red devils.

I'm pretty sure that concentrating our efforts in parts of Yorkshire and Lancashire is actually hampering our chances. Cast the net wider, get more kids everywhere playing RL and the rest will follow.

In hundred years plus we have tried and failed to take the game nation wide 30 plus years throwing cash into London has not worked . We need to work with what we have and make the best of that . The amateur game could be expanded but professionally im afraid at this time is only work able in the areas of the heart lands .

AM glad most games are not on BBC  I think attendances have been better for it. But would have been a good idea for an highlights show and possibly a 15 minutes slot on news channel may be as rugby world cup daily up date.

#2816630 london broncos

I am in the camp for a smaller super league but only in return for more international matches. If we take super league down to 12 playing 22 weekly rounds plus the magic week end to make 23 , Top six make playoffs round 1 3rd v 6th and 4th v 5th 1st and 2nd getting a bye. Round two 1st v lowest rank team and second v the other with the final between the two winners . So that's 26 weeks for the league instead of the current 31. We could then use those weeks for a European  international competition. A six team five week comp either played in one country which is my own preferred option or spread through out. Look how the world cup is taking off this year we need to build on this . We failed to build on Wales success in 1995 and Ireland in 2008 lets not do the same after this world cup . Another point on world cup as much as im looking forward to it I do think the quarter final venues are poor. Only the DW STADIUM good enough for quarters in my eyes. If they wanted a quarter final in wales it should have been at Cardiff or Swansea. For West Yorkshire it should have been at Huddersfield.  I would have looked at Reebox Bolton as an option for a quarter final and the KC in Hull .Also would have given London two group matches one involving Australia and one involving New Zealand .  So back to European cup go for 2015 along with smaller super league. Let Wales host it say two pools of three where teams play every team from the other pool for three matches . Top two in each pool make semis and then a final so five games.

Whats happening with the broncos all you hear is players leaving. Do the RFL KNOW  and are keeping the news quiet until after the world cup. If so why ? Will they make the starting gate in super league 2014 or will they drop down a league ? if so will any one in the other leagues be promoted or relegated to make way for them ? All this talk of league restructuring cant help any club in any league. World cup ends in November while super 2014 starts in February  so just three months to sort the line up of super league. If London are not going to make the starting gate this is far too short notice to prepare another club to step up to the league.
