  1. Well we were in the same crowd that day with Coventry mate Dodgers have all the stars but for all that the Jays had a better season and why they got the home advantage. Trying not to get too excited about the majority of first game winners going on the take the series, never mind the fact that the Leafs and Raptors often give us fans that little glimmer of hope in the finals before dashing it . Perhaps being from Yorkshire there’s a certain sporting familiarity that gives it a homely feel here!
  2. Glad I went with the gut not to get a VPN to watch that live. I hope England will pull off a shock win but it was always a tough ask given the resources of each competition.
  3. Not a huge baseball fan but like to see the Jays do well, especially this one, so symbolic of relationship between the countries right now!
  4. Maybe it was a Diwali tree. Bet it didn’t have a poppy on it though.
  5. It’s not a football or rugby league game atmosphere at Rogers, but get a full crowd in it’s still pretty loud. Will be nuts if they win the World Series, if I remember right there were a few cop cars set alight when the Raptors won the league the other year so it’d be worse than that lol Place will be trashed if the Leafs ever win the Stanley Cup!
  6. The GO trains around southern Ontario certainly aren’t the most attractive ones on the outside but are double decker units and the newer ones quite comfortable. 127km one way from Union Station in Toronto to Niagara Falls costs $18 CAD.
  7. Lot of people showing the effects today here lol
  8. Was wound up to find that the Oxo cubes I picked up at a British store over here weren’t actually cubes but had a groove a couple of mm deep along four of the sides. Not sure if that would count as a trifling complaint or just unsavoury.
  9. I think they were the ones with the livestream that I watched a fair bit! Always been a favourite bird. Second time I’ve seen it happen, the first time was 30 years or more ago up at Gordale Scar when they were really struggling, so glad they’ve gotten a better foothold now. They’re fairly common in Ontario, especially in the built up areas. You see merlins every now and then too and when I had a 23rd floor apartment very occasionally there would be an American kestrel watching the woods from the balcony. Amazing creatures.
  10. Earlier this summer we were downtown by the CN Tower and I just happened to looking at the right patch of sky with a pigeon flying past that was suddenly turned into a cloud of floating feathers when it got hit by a peregrine. Not sure if any peregrines actually nest on the tower regularly but you couldn’t get a better vantage point with plenty of humans and their waste the pigeons love.
  11. Not that I’m going to lose any sleep over it but I find myself more bothered that a betting shop overlays a sign of remembrance.
  12. Wasn’t that the plan before Richard Dunn’s got listed status? Sorry, haven’t kept up with all the Odsal craziness.
  13. Firm believer in being physically older doesn’t mean I have to be grown up. The day I stop finding farts funny is the day I go out onto the ice floe lol
  14. That’s the year my lad was born. He left for uni this year. Proudly old here lol
  15. Is knurr and spell still about or has that proper died out now?
