  1. Wigan has two stations…about time they did some levelling up with the distribution of train stations and built two in Leigh.
  2. Should be able to get sponsorship from the British Whippet Racing Association with that number of teams from the dark side of the Peninnes.
  3. We have seen some brilliant games in the last two weeks both UK/France and Australia. The game on the field is in great shape. Congratulations to London….amazing season given the challenges they face. Squeaky bum time for SL teams leadership. Looks like they will have at least two home games next season with no or next to no away fans. Just one season though until IMG come to the rescue.
  4. Just as well its not being played in London….you could not only count the crowd, you could probably name them too.
  5. Yes I think we all know. In some respects it is hilarious, but on the other hand this used to be a lively discussion board with plenty of contributors. Since some have tried to turn it into a propaganda machine for the ownership the number of contributors has dwindled. I suppose that was the intention, stifle open discussion.
  6. So what did you mean by the teamsheet reflected that the season was over?
  7. Congratulations to Hunslet….the most consistent team over what has been a great season.
  8. i am expecting a 24 game season with each team playing each other 3 times producing 12 home games That would mean three king cotton derby games. Whether you get the honour of two trips to San Spotland or the mighty hornets have to travel to Le parque de boundarie would be the big issue. If the latter it would mean I’d have to get a multiple entry visa.
  9. Since when did you have to be french born to play for the national team?
  10. Mainly due to Vlandys haggling with NSW government until early september so tickets didnt go on sale until four weeks before the date of final. Does anyone think there was similarity between the Tomkins and Cleary tries? Both wonderful ways to win a game.
  11. We still had a mathematical chance of a play off place before that game though. Are you suggesting we didnt put out our strongest team?
  12. I suppose the only common ground between Hornets and Mayfield this year was they both played Cornwall away.
  13. Looking at other clubs on this forum it appears it will be same again next season in terms of league structure meaning a 9 team league one. Nothing on Hornets site so might not be official yet. If it is there will need to be additional games to make up a reasonable fixture list (maybe play each team 3 times) but that would mean four teams drawing the short straw of two trips to cornwall.
  14. They are not….thats the whole plan….let the bottom tier wither away.
  15. Tassie is in a battle over the stadium. AFL made a condition of entry the state government paying for a new stadium. Huge tax payer revolt and state premier at risk at next election. A case of watch this space.
  16. From a financial perspective AFLs most recent expansion has been a disaster (greater western sydney and gold coast). These teams get the lowest crowds by far and depend on AFL support. After 13 seasons gold cost have yet to make the top 8 in an 18 team league.
  17. I get p***ed off at BBC giving priority to womens super league and wheelchair super league results over championship, league 1 and national conference. I would love to know the reasoning.
  18. Hopefully they might start to buy tickets for preliminary finals
  19. The strength of the game is there as shown by origin….but where are the titles? The interstate championship goes to NSW every year, usually by plenty. The NRL has been the property of Melbourne, Roosters and Penrith. Its time for Queensland to get back on the horse (bronco!) and win some titles.
  20. Whoever decided short drop outs were a good idea should be locked up and the keys chucked in the Rochdale Canal. There would have been no opportunity for the late fightback if Reynolds hadnt presented Panthers with 8 first half points from those damned short drops.
  21. Losing both finals in the last three minutes ( I dont count Easts Tigers, they are Melbournes team…and got trounced). Thats what sport does to you….gets you all excited then kicks you in the nuts (after emptying your bank account). Add to that the AFL team losing a last minute game in their Grand Final. Oh but they were the best ever Grand Finals we are told. A bit like telling the Germans WW2 was a belter. No they werent…we lost! Just as well we have origin. After a holiday weekend trek to Melbourne and Sydney its on to Vegas baby.
  22. I think your question should be “Were you?”. Indeed I was….a wonderful day. And I was at the Lancs Cup finals, the BBC trophy final and the John Player trophy final. All losses sadly, so perhaps its a good job I didnt make the 1922 Challenge Cup final. But given you have a file on me you already know all this and where I am this weekend.
  23. So if we want to watch young Rochdale lads playing we should go to Hornets? Cant we celebrate both our local teams? 10 years this weekend since our play off win….or doesnt it count because the team wasnt full of Rochdale lads. It was a wonderful day….didnt you enjoy it?
  24. So your answer to promoting a sustainable third tier is a substantial increase in costs of operation shortly after withdrawing almost all central funding. You are not an accountant by any chance are you? Obviously for some teams seeing the third tier struggle is advantageous in terms of reducing potential competition. Nothing like having London to yourselves. Even more grounds you could call home.
