  1. You need the money, if it’s not there it’s not there. We need a strong London club - we need players into our pool from new areas. Plus all clubs need to follow StH Wigan Leeds etc in developing excellent academies
  2. Unfortunately I agree. Ref was very good - but - BIG BUT - it obviously should be an independent country of origin ref….
  3. Cardiff first. Love their rugby, big city, good transport links. Why we’ve never ‘properly’ developed the sport beyond me…
  4. You’re being deliberately obtuse. You can’t prove wales don’t like RL. without trotting out plotted history of wales and RL - it has a proud tradition in RL. Black welshmen, plus the rest coming north has all engineered interest. Go ask Jiffy if he ‘loves’ RL - he does !! Games in wales have been well attended over the years. Thousands came up for the WC semi final - agree football taking over (as it is most places). U16s given it a good go, very well supported - no problem recruiting players. Schools will Uni fly give it a go, the game played strongly in the Unis. There isn’t the institutional bias that exist in England, less of a public school ‘keep them in their place mentality’. The Welsh simply not had opportunity to play TGG in sufficient numbers. It’s my opinion a team in Cardiff with the right roots would success, no easy fix just hard work. simply saying ‘they don’t’ is ludicrous
  5. Absolutely spot on. Get more and more Welsh lads playing the game, especially juniors. Give credibility to international game by having numbers playing. From small acorns clubs will grow - and if and when funding available a route in RL. Not SL, should be organic growth, long term planning - perhaps our sports greatest weakness
  6. Program showed RL at it fabulous best - including both Hull clubs. Heartwarming.
  7. The Welsh public love rugby - either code. the prejudice against league was never anywhere as strong as in England. I remember the thousands of Welsh fans who came up to watch the WC SF at Old Trafford - cracking game. Absolutely no problem getting junior to play league - u16s team done well over recent years. The Welsh public have never really had opportunity to watch a properly organised club in wales - with pathways - which should be in Cardiff where most people are. Im part Welsh - my relatives closely followed those players who came up north. They’ve all enjoyed ‘our game’, I’ve taken (at their request) to games which they’ve hugely enjoyed. Wales in like the north of England and with a little input could realistically gain a good foothold in the capital if the pathways are in place. Yes would need investment- but we’ve never really tried remotely organised - anything we’ve done has been off the back of others. The Welsh would support a successful club in Cardiff- there is no evidence to suggest otherwise - especially if using home grown players. The prejudice against league has never been there. Hardly contentious - maybe just my view of the world, but certainly not misleading
  8. Wales is the obvious choice - our working class cousins love league and we share hatred of England RU. Need a team in Cardiff with welsh players - plus pathways. Reasonably quickly with France We’d have decent European competition
  9. Agree - very positive. Great to see Swinton so well organised
  10. Amazingly never been - can you park at the Tesco ? Suggestions appreciated
  11. When the Salford chap buys the stadium (fingers crossed) he intends (so I read) to move Swinton into the AJB. Would be great to have them both in a home that wants them
  12. Brilliant program. Very well presented. Didn’t realise he died so young - such a shame
  13. To answer the original question. Build from ground up. Schools comp. Uni. Student internationals. Grow the amateur gsme, create an u16s team and link it to Cumbrian team or Thunder. No short fixes, just get people playing…
  14. Until very recently- RU screwed GRL over so they had to hide where they were playing game. RU is not our friend in any way shape or form
  15. Apologies - my comment out of context - I mean in terms of building the game, sustainably from ground up. Adding new teams every year. Playing internationals. Small Acorns snd all that…but in fertile ground
  16. I’m in a camper van and found the excellent Wales game on bbc3 !
  17. Such an exciting question. Serbia has huge potential- which it is steadily fulfilling. Greece with its local squad players obviously has potential. France obviously needs encouraging. Ghana seems to be doing pretty well (host led Oxford Uni this year !!). It’s so exciting all these possibilities. Even Norway has potential. I think PNG have made it - though the potential as to how far they can go is huge. Same for the South Sea Islanders - who are all marvellous. We need ASAP to build a comp for them to fit into. However I think the strongest potential is Wales. We need a team in Cardiff. All the Welsh know they should be playing league - they are our working class cousins - and we both hate England RU.
