  1. It was and WSRD and others were there at every step of the way
  2. History Around 2000, Salford RLFC owners created a new company called Red City Development, they acquired the land next to White's yard. Spent a long time negotiating with United Utilities over a small strip of access land. They had an iconic stadium planned and applied for planning permission. The Council granted it but John Prescott as Deputy PM called it in. Delay after delay happened, surveys of the brown field site cost more money. The directors of Red City offered Sale a buy in and Brian Kennedy refused. it would have been a joint venture with both clubs having access to revenue. All the delays meant the project took the toil on the Directors of Red City and one of them became insolvent. The project was failing so the Council and Peel stepped in. They abandoned the stadium plan and went for a soulless box. Then Marwen hit Salford, took the debt and established a new trading company for the club. Then Sale jumped on board this is why there is so much resentment. I still can't decide on Marwen, he probably saved the club at the time, but then caused so many issues afterwards. Every year we have drama of some sort. Marwen disbanded the academy because the RFL refused to grant a licence and so funding. We now have several teams and pathways. Linking up with International developing sides too. They do a lot of community work and in schools but are always dismissed.
  3. Just stop putting Solly on TV!!! every flipping week
  4. You have no idea of the history behind this move ?
  5. Usually both things at the same time. The ground is just another drama affecting the club. If only we could have a single drama free season. Been a fan for a long long time but this might just finish me off
  6. On the whole it seems the cap has functioned as intended, Saints released players as they couldn't have held on to them. Same for most of the top clubs. Wigan didn't retain Hastings, some players went to Oz. it feels as if talent is better distributed especially looking at the clubs represented in the recent world cup. It felt as if we had more players to select. it is a whole different argument about whether the amount of the cap is correct. The cap is higher in Australia but Saints still won. We should have rises or reviews of the levels. Salford aspire to spend the cap but it was a disaster when Koukash threw "money" at the squad. he managed to assemble a bunch of guys but hardly classed as a team. he also threw money at a coach and the ones fans considered initially as the cheap option have worked miracles.
  7. It is unusual for Salford to tie up all the key players on long term deals, especially before their existing deals expire. We usually sign players either at the end of careers or washed up. Then they retire or move else where. Croft, Akers and Burgess could have deals with other clubs but committed themselves to Salford. We are used to turn over and having to build a team every season, often losing 6 or 7 players each time. I think Morson maybe helping out.
  8. Latest Salford player to sign a lon term deal is Burgess signing on for 3 years. In recent weeks we have had Croft Ackers Ormondroyd Burgess Great to see.
  9. Maybe the reason the use of offensive words is higher is because it is a choice, even in the heat of a game. For it to come out in "battle" it maybe is something you would use at other times too. This isn't a word you pluck from nowhere. High tackles can be accidental, a matter of seconds, misjudged and this can be reflected in the punishment. What did Ben Flowers get for his assault ? 6 months is a reflection of a choice made even in the pressure of a game. Then there are things happening prior to a grand final !
  10. All I thought was how hot and sweaty he would be in that getup.
  11. Have a look what Justin Carney got for his language a few years ago. Salford winger Justin Carney hit with eight-game ban after racially abusing an opponent | Rugby League News | Sky Sports Is this what you consider a hurty word?
  12. Is it me? Am I just old and turned into my Dad? What the hell has happened to the Brits awards? Lizzo looks like a love seat Don't know who the set of initial dressed in pink came dressed as ! Then there is Sam Smith, what a ######
  13. I enjoyed it. interesting thought that the country is more of a patchwork
  14. Shows how little you know about Salford and it's pathways
  15. thats the guy!, I thought I was doing well digging his name out at all. think he was with Cas when they were relegated, Widnes when they went and Salford when we went
  16. Sounds like the guy who played for Salford and Widnes Vaine Gray
  17. I can only assume Brodie doesn't have a brother ! we would have signed the wrong one if he did
  18. Croft has been great for Salford, his wife's family are UK based so maybe it makes sense. He sounded really affected by the way he was treated in many ways very much like Hastings.
  19. If this had been Wigan tying up a player would there be the same comments. Amazing deal to take all the speculation out of this.
  20. variety of duvets (tog and size) Picnic basket, army blanket, boxes for random computer parts husband has stored on the top. Also have 3 London Poppies from the display a few years ago.
  21. Salford have a few of this pathways, international connections too. The Welsh connections have been there a while and hopefully will be the first of many.
