  1. Technology is supposed to improve the game, just glad i follow non league and lower level football mainly, with this nonsense about the arc of the ball how are linesman coached to view these decisions at any level, do they have to guess imaginary lines from above or give what they see
  2. You can keep your premier league etc Clyde just gone 2-1 up in extra time, live on bbc Scotland, pitch looks tiny
  3. Really wanted the sports village to succeed but it has to be done properly, looking like yet another missed opportunity, seen a quote today from Jenkinson saying its in the hands of the clubs probably meaning he has washed his hands of it
  4. I think if you look at the EFL cup attendances involving under 21 league teams you can gauge people's attitudes, know plenty of Carlisle united fans who refuse to watch the games involving these teams
  5. And if your team hadn't just stayed up on points difference would you have the same opinion, also take note of your img rating, its time for clubs to pull together
  6. The game has gone mad, hopefully the club will publish the score breakdown, think only Hunslet have so far
  7. After some poor news with the demise of thunder i think its fantastic that London have earned promotion, might not be a popular opinion with the M62 clubs but it is essential for the good of the game for them to be there. They now need the support of the game as a whole to ensure their long term survival at this level
  8. Really disappointed to see the demise of Thunder, there seems to be a lot of development work been done in the north east which without the focus of a semi pro team could just dwindle away to nothing. What happens to their academy u18s and 16s now,at least 4 cumbrians in that set up at minute and plenty of others from this county have benefited from the whole Newcastle set up over the years
  9. Totally agree, feel really sorry for the board of directors who have done all they can to promote each game as an event to be stuck with so few home games. Taking a miracle and a lot of good will to be able to fund a competitive squad.
  10. 2 Robert Harris books read on holiday, Fatherland and Act of oblivion both excellent especially the second one
  11. Second series of Crime on itvx based on Irving Welsh book the Long Knives, great book and tv programme has got off to a good start
  12. Watching Boot dreams now or never on iplayer, great insight to the amount of young lads released from professional clubs trying to get back into the game. Quite frightening how quickly young kids dreams are shattered and then they end up way down the non league ladder.
  13. Unfortunately will miss the game playing football in a festival in morning, maybe catch the end in pub after especially if goes to extra time
  14. Could the rfl look into the development of the womens football since 2000 and see how they have increased participation levels at all ages and are now seeing the benefits of those efforts with attendances on the rise and the success at international level. Hope they go onto become world champions Sunday
  15. Definitely keep the final at Wembley, up to the powers that be to sell the event to the whole country instead of relying on the same people each time. Believe we are back to june next year which should be better away from the school holidays and opening weekend of the premier league. Out of interest how many tickets are sold to people in the south of England that should be the main target area
  16. BBC commentary ahead of play, spoiling the moment
  17. Never met anyone else who admits to being colourblind ,used to be quite embarrassed about it ,now keep questioning the use of coloured lights at work etc. Watched my local football team workington play 1874 northwich a couple of seasons ago and had the same red green problem that day, last year a week before the fixture I messaged 1874 via their forum and low and behold they rocked up in their away yellow kit so all was good. I also play a bit of over 50s walking football the lime green and yellow bibs that sometimes used are indistinguishable
  18. I would be quite happy with that so called colour clash however tried to watch the Arbroath v Dundee utd game Friday and with my colour blindness had to switch off, Arbroath in maroon utd inexplicably in green both teams in white shorts
  19. Sad news a reminder of how quick time passes, remember reading his column in Tiger magazine when I was a young boy
  20. As long as we can afford him and he is committed dont see a problem, just seems the way now though when players jump backwards and forwards between the clubs. Funny though that the haven fans are apparently saying that town pay more in wages than they do
  21. My reading list is getting longer each day,at minute trying to read 3 books and all excellent and totally different Redemption song - joe strummer bio The devil in the white city - Erik Larson And the land lay still - james robertson
  22. Been watching Looking after JoJo on the iplayer, another great example of quality bbc drama, based on a 80s Edinburgh housing scheme with Robert Carlyle in the lead role, good soundtrack as well
  23. The problem at all levels of rugby league with the central funding is that it has been used to cover unrealistic wages instead of development and infrastructure, hopefully if they can survive this time they and other clubs will realise that they will have to cut their cloth accordingly
  24. Probably for too long clubs have relied on central funding which has then been handed over to drive players wages up to an unsustainable level against the money received through the gate ,long term I'm still optimistic that a shared community stadium is the way forward but the efforts of the board to utilise derwent park to everyone's advantage over the last year has been fantastic, the addition of the reds ladies football and now the town ladies helps fulfill the inclusion required for companies such as Fibrus to support
  25. Off the field town are reaping the benefits of their community programmes, these initiatives take time but what they will achieve is a new generation of supporters. On field so pleased they have stuck to their guns and stayed away from duel reg and the like, things are looking a lot brighter than they have been for a long time
