It was a bit better in the March when we beat them 20 - 6 in the cup in 1958 as well, I had hair then.

I remember it well. Because of the crush I took two house bricks through the turnstiles with me to stand on to assist in watching. What a great idea without them I wouldn't have seen much of the game. I would probably be arrested if it where now.

Absolutely right 4th February 1968 we went to high flying Hull K R and achieved one of the great away victories in our RL Challenge Cup history.

A victory which I rate alongside the great wins against Warrington away in 1973 and St Helens away in 1983.

As you say, the whole game was played in intense blizzard conditions.

I thought that the third round dispute at Huddersfield was that people stood behind the sticks claimed that the ball had gone dead before it was actually touched down for their last try.

i think the last time i stood in a blizzard watching fev, was the cup match against, i think, skirlaugh bulls, not too many seasons ago.

You could be right Jimmy I could be mixing it up with a league match controversy at that ground. The funniest match there was when Arnie Morgan dislodged the cross bar when he went charging over for a try and held up the game

Can anyone remember more recently in icy conditions when we led about 27-2 against St Helens at half time. We thought that saints darent come out in the second half as the Rovers stood there freezing for what seemed an eternity. They did come out and went on to win about 34-27. I can't remember the exact year.

i think you're getting the scoring slightly askew phil.

I remember the game v saints and alex the great was their coach. We were out with the ref in freezing conditions for about 5 mins before they came out for the 2nd half having been run ragged in the first. I think we were 11 points up at the half. They came back to beat us late in the game by a single point i think. 23-24 comes to mind but its a few years ago now my memory gets fuzzy. Come on mark LP, humour me, give us the scoring and dates please. I know the game was on scrum down.

how on earth did that game get finished. I was watching from about the half way line and couldn't see the 25 ne'er mind the sticks. Was it gary pearce that got lethered by fish? I couldn't make much out of anything from that day!

Funny how the memory plays tricks on you. I've always thought that score in the Saint game was 28-14 to Fev at half time and that we lost 36-28.

I do remember standing at the Post Office Road end and you could see that the ground was still frozen behind the try line, rest of the pitch look fine.

My memory of this game was not that they tore us apart in the second half - just that they scored 12 points in the last 3 minitues to beat us 24-23 (it was 23-12 to us with 3 mins to go) they scored off back to back possessions down the hill.

I think two games are getting mixed up here... The game I watched was a bigger come back and the score was 30 odd to 20odd scoreline in the saints game I'll try and dig out my programme. But jogging peoples memories makes for interesting reading
