I thought this tournament this year was being held in France?

The venues are pretty ordinary but at least they're playing more games. The games against Italy are good too, especially seeing that Italy is making the trip over on top of the other developments they have made this year. I assume France will play all its games at home and that the others all get one game at home.

I thought the France-Wales game was scheduled for Toulouse 23 Oct. Albi to host Scotland week earlier. First French game against the Irish at Istres (near Marseille) on Sat 9 Oct.

Yep, the Gnoll was packed to the rafters yesterday. If Italy use only their own domestic league players they'll get murdered by Wales reserves let alone the first team. Which Italy will they be playing?

Good question. I reckon we should ask CQITalia who posts on the International board.

I just wish we were playing the competitive game up at Wrexham rather than the friendlies - although I'll go and watch these games of course. I can't wait to see Wales play League.

I assume it will bet he FIRL as they are the ones recognised by the RLEF. i.e. not CQ's lot.

Yes it is. In the next few months Welsh RU teams will be playing Treviso Rugby and Aironi Rugby so I suppose it ties in quite well!

I can't find the location for France v Scotland, it doesn't help that Scotland RL have forgotten to keep up with their domain payments - www.scotlandrl.com - for a national body this just isn't good enough, it should be up 24/7. All France's matches will be shown live on Orange TV across France.

Anyway the Welsh press seem to be excited that the Dragons will be making their debut appearances in North Wales, news pieces in the North Wales Weekly and the Daily Post. Plus The Leader newspaper has a piece on how Ryan O'Hara thinks rugby league is still thriving in South Wales. WalesOnline still gives RL a lot of coverage with a report on Dyffryn beating Torfaen. Rugby League Planet has a piece on how France and Wales need to step up for this years competition.

And is it a coincidence that when the WRL announce an international at Colwyn Bay, the WRU announce a new academy for young rugby players of Colwyn Bay??! I have heard the WRU have been pumping money into North Wales ever since the Crusaders arrived.

Eirias Park Stadium where Wales and Italy will be played (picture) is also rumoured to be where the WRU's fifth Magners League franchise is to be based, in a bid to combat the Crusaders presence from Wrexham. The Racecourse is the only other ground in North Wales able to house a top-flight rugby team and obviously the Crusaders have it.

Would love to hear how the WRL are doing with regards to Conference clubs in North Wales, anyone??? They really should be looking to having Conference clubs across the North - in Wrexham, Bangor, Colwyn Bay, Welshpool, Caernarfon etc.

One last article from The Leader, about a boy who lose all his Crusaders stuff - his scarf, shirt, flag etc - in a fire. Anyway the club heard about this and put a smile back on his face! It's great to hear stories like this!! Hats off to Crusaders!

Thanks for posting this info -interesting stuff.

I know that the Chester Gladiators, the Conwy Celts, the Mid-Wales Marauders , and the Penrhyn Eagles (based in Bangor) played a series of Merit (friendly) fixtures this summer, which have come to an end now. They'll start again next spring. I think the aim is to create a North Wales championship - hopefully next year. Maybe someone else on the board may know more.

3rd of October: Wales against Italy - I can't wait!

I thought the Wales U23 match in Colwyn Bay would be at the RU ground in the town not Eirias Park.

Eirias Park!! Now that is a blast from the past, I went to the secondary school next door and used to train on the athletic track there as a youth.

I might just have to come up for that, a mate in the Scorpions might be playing then as well .
