That's cruel luck.

Phil Gould has confirmed the Panthers have signed South Sydney Rabbitohs forward Chris Grevsmuhl on a two-year deal starting in 2017.

Gould was asked on social media site Twitter whether the club had signed the Grevsmuhl and if so, for how long. Gould responded confirming the signing.

Never can quite get my head round this sort of signing.

Arranging and announcing a signing of a player more than a whole season away.

2016 season is a couple of months away and this signing is for the start of the season after that.

Gold Coast titans halfback Kane Elgey to miss the entire 2016 season with a ruptured ACL sustained in training.

Yes,just another slice of misfortune for the Titans, but at least it gives the club a couple of months to sort things out player-wise before the start of the season. It looks like Robson will be a certainty for half back now,Birdy might be a surprise selection for number 6?

As I said a couple of weeks ago, Tim Grant has now signed with the Tigers. Personally I'm very happy with

this news as I regard Grant as the worst signing at Souths since our reinstatement.

Ok,I`ll ask the question again:How can the Broncos,or any other club, tell a player,Paul Copley in this instance,he`s not wanted anymore because they`ve just signed another bloke and the salary cap won`t accommodate them both? Surely Copley`s on a contract,so they`d have to pay him out, thereby breaking the salary cap anyway! Maybe if they keep Copley, but have him play in the Queensland Cup only,is a way round it until he get`s cheesed off and signs for another NRL club. Mind boggling.

Rumour around that the Eels have signed Michael Jennings from the Roosters. Pauli Pauli to be offloaded to the Knights and Roosters to part pay Jennings. Seems to open the way for Copley to join the Roosters. Makes no sense to me, unless there is some off-field issue with Jennings.

Jennings would have been off-contract end of 2016 and, even with issues, is still a better player than Copley by miles. The previous "Copley to Roosters" rumour was based on the notion that the Chooks might have to sack SKD if he is convicted of domestic violence, which case is still before the court.

Amazes me how the chooks just never miss a beat when one leaves they have another one ready to go.

I suppose the lure of playing in front of no home fans is just to great for these guys to resist.

I see Dane Neilson is surplus to requirements at Bradford and is returning to Australia.

Not sure what the reasons are.

His time at Bulls has been described as 'an unsuccessful stint' by an Oz paper.

Bulls had the option to extend his contract for a second year but chose not to according to them.

2015 hasn't been a good year in his career.

Sydney Roosters boss Brian Canavan has insisted Michael Jennings was in the club’s plans for 2016, despite speculation he is about to join the club he once despised, Parramatta.

Jennings was linked with a possible shock move to the Eels for this season so the Roosters could free up some much-needed space in their salary cap to recruit Brisbane’s Dale Copley

So the writing was on the wall then!

Latest:

Sydney Roosters will sign off on Michael Jennings' release in the next 48 hours, freeing up the NSW centre to join Parramatta on a four-year deal later this week.

Apparently the Roosters and Eels have agreed to terms over Jennings' transfer and are waiting on the NRL to rubber-stamp the deal.

The Roosters, who have landed Broncos centre Dale Copley as Jennings' replacement, are yet to sign off on the 27-year-old's release as the Eels finalise the remaining details of his contract. But it is understood the NRL is satisfied with the terms of his deal at Parramatta, which will allow Jennings to put pen to paper potentially as early as Monday.

Jennings announced officially today:

NSW State of Origin strike weapon Michael Jennings has signed with Parramatta on a four-year NRL deal after being released by the Sydney Roosters.

Jennings, who has played 193 NRL games and made 16 State of Origin appearances for NSW, has signed with the Eels until the end of the 2019 season in a major boost for the club’s backline.

Is the circle now complete?

- Hopoate from Eels to Dogs

- forces Lafai from Dogs to Saints

- Roberts from Titans to Broncarrhoids

- forces Copley from Brisbane to Roosters

- Jennings from Roosters to Parra.

A side note: Check out these mugshots from the Eels player profiles. Is the photographer going for some arty lens or lighting effect? or have they just signed a lot of guys with real mongrel heads?

I should have also thrown in the secondary centre cycle of transmigration:

Sam Burgess returns to Souths after

- Jamal Idris tells Panthers he doesn't want to play any more

- Idris can be replaced by Peta Hiku, moved on by Manly to accommodate

- Dylan Walker, whose drug overdose gives Souths an excuse to dump him to clear cap space for

Sam Burgess.

I don't think Mata'utia will see much NRL at the Dragons with Aitken and Lafai there. There's also talk of Dugan playing centre and they have Yaw Kiti Glymin to cover the non-Nightingale wing.

I disagree , Souths would have done anything to retain Walker & he was defiantly not dumped. What happened was Dylan had a hissy fit because Souths pulled him into line over the drug overdose issue & then jolly on the spot to tell him how poorly he'd been treated by Souths &  the promise of a NSW jersey was good old Bozo . And that's how Walker became the latest in a long line of Super Star Rabbits to end up at the despised Manly club.

It's either a very expensive professional photographer trying something different or a photobooth hired for a wedding.

With RTS,Maloney and now Jennings gone the Roosters are missing a lot of strike power this season, can't see them challenging the likes of the Cowboys and Broncos this season.

I agree but the bookies don't. Broncos 7/2. Roosters 11/2. Cows 7/1

Broncos winger Lachlan Maranta will miss the start of the NRL season after fracturing his wrist.

The 23-year-old, a favourite of coach Wayne Bennett, injured his arm at training last Thursday, with a specialist confirming today that he will require surgery.

The injury will rule Maranta out for 10 to 12 weeks, meaning he will miss next month’s All Stars game and the World Club Challenge, as well as the start of the season in early March.

Yes Rusty told a couple of guys the truth including Luke Keary & he got up and walked apparently. I think

with all Russel has done & he owns the club for god sake surly he has the right to tell the boys his opinion.

It's been a rough offseason that is for sure but with Sam & Ritcho back & Tim Grant gone I see Souths making the right moves to get back on top.

  • Melbourne Storm will kick-off their 2016 season for a great cause when they play for the Emergency Services Cup against St-George Illawarra Dragons at AAMI Park.

The Round 1 clash on Monday 7 March will honour the tireless efforts of Victoria and New South Wales volunteer firefighters and other emergency services personnel.

Storm CEO Dave Donaghy, Club captain Cameron Smith and star prop Jesse Bromwich were alongside Victorian Minister for Sport John Eren to proudly launch the cause from their pre-season training camp at Geelong Grammar, with 1,000 tickets to be provided to the emergency services teams and volunteers to attend the match.

Emergency Services personnel and volunteers have worked hard to keep Victorians safe from the threat of bushfires, including many who sacrificed Christmas day with loved ones to fight fires at Wye River and Separation Creek.

As a small gesture of thanks, Melbourne Storm will give away tickets to State Emergency Service and Country Fire Authority personnel and volunteers that have fought fires across Victoria. Families affected by bushfires will also be invited.

NRL has become involved as the bizarre contract saga surrounding promising north Queensland five-eighth Shaun Nona spread on Thursday.

An NRL official confirmed on Thursday they were looking into the circumstances surrounding Nona cutting ties with Intrust Super Cup club the Mackay Cutters as the drama widened to involve a second club called the Cutters, St George Illawarra and a former North Queensland Cowboys player.

An official NRL investigation could be launched in the coming days.

It is understood the NRL are concerned about the way Nona left Mackay, after his manager Chris Sheppard allegedly told them he had signed an NRL deal with the Dragons.

Mackay was happy to let Nona go for that reason and made a public announcement that he had been released.

However, the Dragons denied any deal existed, leading to speculation Nona may have left the club to play with the Illawarra Cutters in the NSW Cup, where they are a feeder club to the NRL side.
