Graham Posted March 19, 2015 Author Posted March 19, 2015 NSW forward Beau Scott is likely to make a shock return to Sydney, with St George Illawarra and Wests Tigers among the clubs jostling for his signature. Scott has a get-out clause in his Newcastle contract and plans to trigger it for family reasons. It appeared Scott would finish his career with the Knights when he re-signed until the end of 2017. However, the 30-year-old is preparing for a shift that will take place at the end of the year. Only in Rugby League! The Australian Rugby League Forum
Graham Posted March 19, 2015 Author Posted March 19, 2015 Wayne Bennett is set to lure Dane Gagai to Brisbane with the classy centre considering emulating Darius Boyd by quitting Newcastle to return to the Broncos. In a crushing blow to the Knights’ hopes of retaining Gagai, the Maroons Origin hopeful has privately expressed a desire to resurrect his Broncos career under Bennett. Only in Rugby League! Graham Posted March 19, 2015 Author Posted March 19, 2015 Sam Burgess’ English-based manager has ruled out an imminent return to the NRL for the former South Sydney forward. However, he left the door ajar for Australian clubs by quoting noted English writer Charles Dickens’ in relation to Burgess’ future. “His contract with Bath has a couple of more seasons to run and he is currently training with the England squad,” lawyer Chris Caisley told The Australian by email. “He is enjoying life in Bath and at this moment in time has no plans to return to the NRL. However, as Dickens wrote, albeit in a rather different context ...’never say never’.” Only in Rugby League! The Australian Rugby League Forum
RabbitRhinoovOZ Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Konrad Hurrell has re-signed with the Warriors until the end of the 2018 Good signing Hurrell is one hell of a player.
RabbitRhinoovOZ Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Leeds CEO Gary Hetherington and St Helens Mike Rush were in Sydney during the week and were seen with several leading players agents. Paul Gallen is one player the clubs are interested in, as is Roosters centre Shaun Kenny-Dowall. If Leeds sign Peptide Paul that will mark the last time I watch SL. That bloke is absolute blight on RL I already boycott State Of Origin due to his involvement & never watch any NRL games he takes part in even when they play Souths.
Graham Posted April 2, 2015 Author Posted April 2, 2015 Manly Sea Eagles have announced the re-signing of Matt Ballin until the end of the 2017 NRL season, on the eve of his 200th first-grade game for the Club. Parramatta Eels recruit Richie Fa’aoso has today been cleared to return to playing rugby league, after passing an approval process with the NRL. Fa’aoso initially went into retirement in 2013 following a neck injury, but received medical clearance to return to full-time training with the Eels for the 2015 pre-season. Will Hopoate is poised to extend his stay at Parramatta for a further three seasons in a huge boost ahead of the Easter Monday blockbuster against Wests Tigers at ANZ Stadium. Todd Carney has moved closer to a possible return to the NRL, after discussing his unfair dismissal from Cronulla with Sharks management overnight. The former representative star, who is playing for Super League club Catalans, was sacked by the Sharks in June after an unsavoury image of him went viral on social media. Carney appealed the sacking and last month won the wrongful dismissal case against Cronulla within the NRL’s appeals structure. He spoke with the Sharks board last night over Skype for the first time since winning his case. Two weeks ago, Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan indicated he wouldn’t push for a return of the exiled 28-year-old. Only in Rugby League! The Australian Rugby League Forum
Farmduck Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 The Fa'aoso deal is interesting and has been held up for a while because of the insurance aspects. The NRL insurance covers each NRL player for $1mill but the insurance wouldn't cover Fa'aoso because of a pre-existing condition, despite his medical clearance to resume playing. Fa'aoso will only be covered by the NRL for $200K and only for conditions unrelated to neck or spinal injuries. Parra will have to pick up the premium for the rest of Fa'aoso's coverage.

Farmduck Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 NZ Warriors reportedly after Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, further fuelling rumours that Tomkins is looking to return to SL. The contract offer is almost double that of the Roosters, who offered about $400,000 a year to keep the Kiwi international at the club. The move has signalled the end of Sam Tomkins' two-year stint at the Warriors with the Englishman returning to the Super League next year because of his homesick partner. Farmduck Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-04-08/burgess2c-tyrell-re-sign-with-rabbitohs/6378788 Tom Burgess has rejected overtures to join his brother Luke at Manly to re-sign with South Sydney on a one-year extension. Tom had been linked to a move to Brookvale as the Sea Eagles desperately seek to beef up their forward pack, and shore up their roster in the wake of the departures of Daly Cherry-Evans and Kieran Foran for 2016. But the 22-year-old has again recommitted to Redfern. Fellow prop David Tyrrell joined Burgess in pledging his future to Souths. He has signed a new two-year deal. "I'm really excited about signing on for another year with the Rabbitohs," Burgess said. "I'm really enjoying my time with the club, we've got a great set of lads here, and in the end the decision to stay is what I think is best for my career."

Parramatta fullback Will Hopoate is poised to re-sign with the club on a three-year deal.According to Fairfax media, the club and Hopoate’s management have been negotiating for several weeks and should make the decision publicly this week. Farmduck Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 (edited) That seems to be the plan and last week they dropped McCrone and put Buttriss in the 14 slot. Hodgson doesn't need a long break and has enough beef to stay on the field as a middle forward when Hodgson comes back on. My guess: McCrone and Sam Williams looking for SL jobs. Farmduck Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl/roosters-gutted-by-roger-tuivasa-shecks-warriors-switch/story-fnp0lyn3-1227295842965 Roosters recruitment manager Peter O’Sullivan claimed to be “personally gutted” by Tuivasa-Sheck’s defection. And his club isn’t happy either. “Personally I’m gutted,” O’Sullivan told The Daily Telegraph. “We brought him over here (from New Zealand) when he was 18-years-old. “We set him up, we employed him. We helped his family and it’s well documented ‘Mini’ (former Roosters fullback Anthony Minichiello) helped him with his fullback play and diet. “The coaching staff has made him the player he is today. “I think the coaching staff has been phenomenal. They brought him through the under-20s, then a season on the wing, then a season between wing and fullback and now he has made fullback his own. “We are disappointed but the club is bigger and stronger, we’ll move on. It’s just disappointing he didn’t see the big picture and be a one-club man, which we would have loved him to be. “We put a lot of time and resources into Roger but we will now put that into others. “We have been saying for the past year-and-a-half that we would lose players and no-one listened to us. But they (Warriors) threw a bucket load of cash at him and that, in the end, matters.”
