Wolford6
It will be interesting to see who gets a ticket to the House of Lords in the New Years Honours List. Ed Balls and Esther McVey for starters, I reckon Under Scrutiny by the Right-On Thought Police
John Drake
The current government plans to reduce the number of elected MPs 'to save money' (yeah, right) at the same time as stuffing the unelected House of Lords to bursting point with dozens and dozens of new peers. http://www.instituteforgovernment.org.uk/blog/12321/the-ever-expanding-house-of-lords/ Time the whole rotten edifice was brought crashing down and replaced with something democratic, accountable and affordable. And don't get me started on the 'Taxpayers Alliance' who are quoted in that Indy article in the OP!! .

And don't get me started on the 'Taxpayers Alliance' who are quoted in that Indy article in the OP!! I share your dissapointment. the current government has done nothing to roll back the ridiculously expensive machinery of state, so well lubricated by us the taxpayer. Remember "the Bonfire of the Quangos"? Never happened. The revolving door of senior public sector appointments where incompetence is rewarded with high severence pay, huge pension top up and then a new public sector job the follwong day. All well documented in Private Eye. And all this whilst at the bottom of the public sector pile, people are struggling along on the minimum wage. This was my reason for the original post. This woman was essesntially robbing these people and robbing the taxpayer. It goes across party boundaries, as "Two Jags" can readily testify. Have they learned nothing from the DailyTelegrapph's expose of the expenses scandal?
